Hi Tammy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
LuLu’s Catering and Events started out as a brick and mortar restaurant; LuLu’s Roadhouse. After a few years of 90 hour work weeks, no vacation, always staffing shortages, small town politics I was exhausted and made the hard decision to close the doors. We kept all the equipment, held onto the branding, logos and signage with plans to do something with it going in a different direction – that is when LuLu’s Catering and Events was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a business is never a smooth road! The hours were long and hard but they were definitely a learning experience. I discovered a brick and mortar business in a small town is hard to keep enough foot traffic to make ends meet. Sitting in one place, waiting for the customers to come to you was not the path for me.

LuLu’s Catering and Events brings the delicious food for all your events; banquets for a crowd, family holiday gathering, parties celebrating life’s milestones, private cocktail parties at your home, romantic dinner for two – we are all about bringing meals, sweet treats, and fun for every occasion. Themed gatherings? No problem, I love a theme! Dietary restrictions or food allergies? Also, not a problem – LuLu’s can accommodate all while making the entire menu delicious for everyone. Born and raised in the South, Southern hospitality in my blood and something I strive to bring to every meal I serve not matter how small or large.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Outside of working in the restaurant industry some of the more surprising facts about me are:
I have a degree in computer science for business with a minor in business management. Along the way I worked quite a few years in retail, from the stockroom, visual displays, department head to management. I have also spent a few years in the hotel / motel industry starting with front desk clerk, moving to maintenance and housekeeping to property sales and direct billing agent for cooperate accounts. I did scheduling and insurance approval for a doctors office and was office manager of a mental health clinic.
