Daily Inspiration: Meet Dr. Laura Brady

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr, Laura Brady.

Hi Dr, Laura, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After 20 years in Public Education, I jumped into creating my own business where I was able to grow children and educators to love growing the minds of children like I do. I worked to create an atmosphere of acceptance and safety being the main focus of my center. I worked tirelessly to create a team that balances the day-to-day routines. The goal was to develop a center where when parents enrolled, they were treated like family. My heart and passion have always been to meet children where they are, build a strong foundation and trusting relationship and grow them. I created Grow Your Mind Academy to be a center where all children can grow and thrive in the early years to build a strong foundation of lifelong learner to carry with them throughout their life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has not always been an easy task. Some of the obstacles along the way included finding the perfect staff with a passion aligned with my goals. Focusing on a balanced budget and working to apply for grants to support the financial strain of owning a small business was the key to long term success. Ensuring that you communicate effectively and build a team that works for the same goal: growing children; is still a struggle but the day-to-day focus is communicate and grow

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I received my doctorate degree in 2020 and worked to focus on educational policy with a focus in administration. When I got done with my degree the plan was to become a public-school administrator. The more I got involved in policy, the more I realized I wanted to start my own school where I could grow kids using my 20-year experience and develop a place where all kids were accepted and treated with kindness and acceptance. My goal in opening up two academies is to continue to use my passion of being a lifelong learner to support other adults to do the same. I believe children are our future and the amount of time and energy we put into them as young minds, the better our world will be. I am most proud of being a partner of over 25 years to my husband, a mother to my 5 girls, and a proud owner of 2 academies focused on growing lifelong learners.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
My goal over the next 5 years is to continue to provide a service that sets us apart from other academies because of our strong commitment to meeting children where they are and helping them grow to be the best versions of themselves. I want to take my academy to all of the surrounding counties I serve to ensure quality care is top tier.
