Conversations with Lance Curtis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lance Curtis.

Hi Lance, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
LAN LAW is more than a country music duo to me—it’s the story my brother and I, a family built on faith, and a dream that never gave up.

I was born and raised in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas alongside my brother, Lawson Wayne, (btw, we go by our middle names) We grew up surrounded by country music, strong family values, and hard work. Long before Nashville was ever on our radar, I was singing in a family band with our Papa, Uncle, and cousins. Whether it was church, local gatherings, or anywhere people would listen, music was always a part of our lives.

Music wasn’t just something we did—it was who we were.

As we got older, Lawson and I began developing our own sound and harmony, blending the traditional country music we grew up on with a more modern country feel. We were inspired by artists who stayed true to who they were, and we tried to do the same by holding on to the faith and family values that shaped us.

Like most artists, the road wasn’t easy. There were long drives, small crowds, late nights, and plenty of sacrifices. But every stage, no matter how big or small, gave us a chance to connect with people through the music we loved.

That journey eventually led us to Nashville, Tennessee, where we spent years driving back and forth sometimes weekly writing songs, learning the music business, and working to become the best artists we could be. While a lot of people chase trends, we wanted to build something genuine—a sound and a brand that reflected who we really are.

Over time, that authenticity started connecting with people.

Everything changed when our song “Country To The Bone” took off on social media, generating more than 50 million views and introducing LAN LAW to people all across the country. What looked like an overnight success was really the result of years of hard work, and it opened doors we had been preparing for our entire lives.

Working in the music industry we’ve been blessed to share stages with artists like Collin Raye, Craig Campbell, Jake Hoot, Gene Watson, The Kentucky Headhunters, and FOZZY. We’ve had the opportunity to perform across multiple states and build an incredible fan base that connects with our family-friendly message and our love for real country music.

Today, Lawson and I perform both as an acoustic duo and with a full band. Every show is an opportunity to bring high energy, tight harmonies, and a genuine connection with the crowd. Our music reflects the people and places that made us who we are—faith, family, small-town values, hunting, the outdoors, and the pride that comes with being country.

But this journey has never been just about music.

What started as two brothers singing songs in Arkansas has grown into a community of people who believe in faith, family, freedom, and country music.

While we’ve been fortunate to experience things we once only dreamed about, Lawson and I still approach every show the same way we did when we first started—with gratitude, humility, and a commitment to giving everything we have to the people who support us.

The story of LAN LAW is still being written.

And we’re just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
People often see the viral videos, and we have not only received lots success from them and exciting opportunities, but we’ve also received a lot of hate and they don’t always see the years it took to get here.

Like many artists, we faced our share of challenges along the way. There were times we play for small crowds, drive hundreds of miles for shows that barely cover expenses, and e we often wonder if all the hard work will ever pay off. We’ve spent countless hours on the road, away from family and friends, chasing a dream that wasn’t guaranteed.

We heard plenty of “no’s” before we ever heard a “yes.” There were missed opportunities, canceled shows, financial sacrifices, and moments when things didn’t go as planned. We watched other artists seem to move ahead while we kept grinding, writing songs, building relationships, and believing our time would come.

Starting over in Nashville wasn’t easy either. We were two young small-town Arkansas boys trying to find our place in one of the most competitive music cities in the world. There were times when we questioned ourselves, but we never questioned the calling God placed on our lives.

Through every setback, our faith, family, and love for music kept us moving forward. Looking back, those struggles weren’t roadblocks—they were part of the preparation. They taught us perseverance, humility, and gratitude, and they made us appreciate every opportunity we’ve been given today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
When we aren’t on the road performing or making music you’ll find us working in construction. We work on anything from the ground up. Roofing, siding, Sheetrock, flooring, remodels, new construction, etc.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
We are most happy that we have Jesus as our Savior! Musically, when we get to go out on stage and we are singing our original songs and we hear the crowd singing it back to us! That’s one of the coolest experiences yet! We also love being with our family and Lawson will tell you the thing that makes him happy is his beautiful, loving and supportive wife!
