Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Kee.
Hi Kaitlyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a child, I always knew that I wanted to help people. That knowledge turned into the dream of being a nurse. Out of high school, I started the nursing program at the University of Memphis, but didn’t end up finishing. I married young and we immediately started a family. During the first several months of our oldest’s life, we had numerous issues with hospitals, clinics, and medical staff. So, when we got pregnant with our second, we knew we did not want to go that route. We hired a midwife and made plans for a home birth. Planning to give birth at home actually ended up being a “God wink”, because he was due in April… Of 2020.
During that time, I began questioning everything. I deep dove into natural health and wellness, because what I was seeing within the medical field at the time made me start to not believe many things. We stopped using Tylenol and most medications. I began looking into making our own remedies, so I knew what was in them. For the past six years, I’ve been creating herbal tinctures, salves, and capsules for our family.
In January of this year (2026), while we were snowed in for a couple of weeks, I decided to sign up for a course to get my Holistic Health Practitioner certification. Being self paced, I completed it within a few weeks, and created the Facebook page for my business, The ApotheKee. I chose that name because I wanted to put a play on “apothecary” with our last name. Starting this small business has been important to me to finally be able to pour into my lifelong purpose of wanting to help people. Helping people be able to take control of their health, focusing on their individual needs has been so fulfilling. Hearing my customers testimonies mean so much to me, to know that the wellness products I make are helping relieve them from things they’ve been dealing with for some time. Currently, I am selling from Facebook, an Etsy page, and doing occasional vendor markets.
When you support my business, you’re supporting a small town mama, who creates herbal remedies with her babies at her feet. All of the magic happens in my little kitchen. Pouring over herbs, creating formulas, and constantly studying to learn as much as I possibly can. My goal is to not only creat a business, but to create relationships first.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel like health and wellness products are one of those things that, understandably, folks are skeptical of. It’s scary to make a decision on your health and invest into something that you are unsure will work. Much less something that is made in a stay-at-home mom’s kitchen, haha! So, it has been a little difficult getting people who actually want to try these remedies and invest into the unknown.
But one thing about all of the remedies that I make, are that I first created them for my own personal family’s use. Nothing that is sold to you has not been tried by myself or a family member. I haven’t put together formulas to just get inventory and products to sell, they’re all created from a need that myself, children, or family have.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The ApotheKee is a long time dream of mine, sharing my own herbal remedies and formulas. I have become certified as a Holistic Health Practitioner/Coach, as well as an Herbalist. I feel like my desire to get to know my clients and create relationships with them, being able to point them in the direction of the remedy best tailored for them sets me apart from other health and wellness sellers. I created my logo as a mortar and pestle with a quilt hanging over the side of it, because I wanted my brand to automatically feel homely. I didn’t want to feel “corporate”, but like stepping into grandma’s house.
I offer herbal skincare, remedies, Holistic Health Coaching, and personalized remedies. I believe that healing is not a quick fix or one-size-fits-all plan. My goal is to help you look at your whole picture – your habits, your stress, your nourishment, your rhythms – and create a plan that actually work for “your life”. You deserve more than just surface level answers about your health. I’m here to help you slow down, listen to your body, and support healing from the inside out. No extremes. No overwhelm. Just steady, supported progress. Rooted in relationships. Centered on you.
