Daily Inspiration: Meet Sophia Keown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Keown.

Hi Sophia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always enjoyed making music since I was young. I was just drawn to move to Nashville to surround myself with as much of it as I could.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not. I’ve always struggled in my personal life since I was young. It’s something that makes me enjoy the things I do, but also makes it harder to push forward sometimes. Like all intense things, it’s a great mix of many things. But it does give me rose colored glasses, in a way. I’m much more grateful for the mundane than I would be otherwise.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well, I play guitar, write songs, sing. I’m learning drums, I really enjoy drumming. I’ve always been attracted to rhythm the most. I admire the worlds of power pop and rockabilly because of their distinct styles and originality. I’m very inspired by those genres among other things. I’m most proud of my songwriting. I’ve come to a point where it flows very naturally and I almost don’t have to even think about it. It’s nice. I’m not sure what sets me apart from others, probably the same thing that sets everyone apart from others. That I’m me and not someone else. Haha.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My family, pets, and friends. Nothing can lift me up so easily. It’s the sweetest joy to just spend time with someone who understands and loves you.
