Inspiring Conversations with Cicely Wilson of SOCIALsitters 615

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cicely Wilson.

Hi Cicely, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story began with a genuine love for children and a desire to support families in practical, meaningful ways. I have spent over 20 years working with children and families in different settings, including childcare, youth services, birth work, postpartum support, and community-based programs.

I started SOCIALsitters 615 after noticing a real gap in event childcare. Weddings, conferences, corporate events, and hotel gatherings are often created with adults in mind, but many families still need safe, reliable care for their children during those moments. I wanted to create a service that takes that stress off parents and event hosts.

Today, SOCIALsitters 615 provides experienced, background-checked sitters, age-appropriate activities, and organized on-site childcare for special events throughout Nashville and beyond. It has taken faith, persistence, and a lot of learning to get here, but I am proud to be building a business that helps make events more family-friendly, welcoming, and stress-free.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road, but it has definitely been a meaningful one. Like many small business owners, I have had to learn as I go. Building SOCIALsitters 615 has required me to figure out staffing, systems, pricing, marketing, insurance, contracts, and how to clearly explain a service that many people do not realize they need until they need it.

One of the biggest challenges has been introducing the value of event childcare and helping people see it as more than just babysitting. It is really about creating a safer, more welcoming experience for families, children, and event hosts. There have also been moments where I had to push through self-doubt, limited resources, and the pressure of building something new while still making sure every detail reflects the quality and care I want my business to be known for.

Even with the challenges, each step has helped me grow. The road has taught me to be resourceful, patient, and confident in the vision. I am proud of how far SOCIALsitters 615 has come, and I am even more excited about where it is going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
SOCIALsitters 615 is a Nashville-based event childcare agency that helps make weddings, conferences, hotels, corporate gatherings, and community events more welcoming for families. We specialize in bringing organized, on-site childcare directly to the event so parents can stay present while their children are cared for nearby.

What makes SOCIALsitters 615 different is that we approach childcare through the lens of both child development and event hospitality. We are not simply sending a sitter to a location. We help think through the full childcare experience, including staffing, check-in, parent communication, activities, supplies, safety expectations, and how the children’s space fits into the overall event.

Our services are especially helpful for planners, couples, hotels, businesses, and organizations that want to include families without adding stress to the event day. We create a warm and engaging environment for children while giving hosts a thoughtful way to support their guests.

Brand-wise, I am most proud that SOCIALsitters 615 is becoming known for turning childcare into a meaningful part of the event experience. Our brand is playful, professional, organized, and family-centered. We want people to understand that children are guests too, and when they are considered in the planning process, everyone has a better experience.

At the heart of SOCIALsitters 615 is the belief that families should not have to choose between showing up for important moments and making sure their children are safe, supported, and included.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I would love for readers to know that SOCIALsitters 615 was built from a real need I kept seeing in the community. Families want to attend weddings, conferences, and special events, but childcare is often one of the last things considered. My goal is to help change that.

I believe family-friendly events should be thoughtful, organized, and enjoyable for both adults and children. When childcare is planned with care, parents feel supported, children feel included, and hosts are able to offer a better overall experience.

I am grateful to be building this business in Nashville and excited to continue partnering with planners, hotels, businesses, and organizations that want to create spaces where families truly feel welcome.
