Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Jones.
Hi Jared, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m the singer/songwriter and guitarist for the Hard Rock band Emerge. We started like a lot of others bands, in a bedroom in my parents house right after high school. We’ve gone from playing for (or annoying) our neighbors, to stages all across the southeast playing to thousands of rock fans while sharing the stage with some of our favorite bands and biggest influences.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been anything but smooth. Between member changes, the financial burden, and the mental struggle of constantly pushing for more while being reminded of how unlikely it is that you’ll truly succeed as a band, it’s been the hardest I’ve worked at anything in my life. So I’ve definitely had to reframe what I consider success, and by the current lens I look through we’ve been extremely successful and blessed with the opportunities we’ve had.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Emerge is a Hard Rock band. We’ve released an EP and a full length LP, along with some singles, and have a ton more music on the way, and I’m proud of all of that. I’m most proud of our drive and commitment, having been at this for 15 years now we’ve seen countless others come and go, but we keep pushing and chasing the dream. I’m proud that we’ve done things we only ever dreamed of, having played with and met many of our musical heroes and influences, some of who we even call friends now.
What matters most to you?
Integrity and honesty. Without those things success means nothing to me. I’d rather fail as myself than succeed as a counterfeit.
