Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Williams.
Hi Marcus, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I discovered gymnastics during my freshman year of high school, and what started as a new challenge quickly became a lifelong passion. Through years of training, I fell in love with tumbling, acrobatics, and constantly pushing myself to grow as an athlete. As my skills developed, I realized I also had a passion for helping others, which led me to begin coaching and mentoring young athletes.
As my career progressed, I had the opportunity to perform with the world-renowned Jesse White Tumbling Team, traveling and entertaining audiences through high-energy acrobatic performances at major events. I also coached at multiple gymnastics and tumbling programs before starting my own tumbling team. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of coaching numerous state and national champions, and in 2026, I led my team to a Top 10 finish at the USTA National Championships, placing among more than 100 teams from across the country. Along the way, I’ve also coached at some of the nation’s premier training camps, including Woodward Camp and NashCamp, working with athletes from all over the United States.
My passion for performance eventually led me to join the Chicago Bulls Entertainment Team as a professional acrobatic dunker. Performing in front of thousands of fans has been an incredible experience and has allowed me to combine elite athleticism with entertainment. During my time with the Bulls, I’ve been honored as Rookie of the Year, earned two All-Star selections, and represented the organization internationally at NBA House Brazil. One of the highlights of my career came during the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, when Stephen Curry and Anthony Davis gave our dunk team a shoutout, recognizing our performances on one of basketball’s biggest stages.
Today, I’m grateful to continue living out my passion through coaching and performing. Whether I’m developing the next generation of athletes, performing in arenas around the world, or speaking to inspire others, my mission is to use the talents God has given me to make a positive impact. I believe that with faith, hard work, and consistency, opportunities will follow, and I hope my journey encourages others to pursue excellence, embrace every challenge, and never stop chasing the dreams God has placed on their hearts.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey hasn’t been without setbacks. Early in my career, I learned that both gymnastics and professional acrobatic dunking demand an incredible amount of sacrifice. During my first year of trying out for the Chicago Bulls Entertainment Team, I suffered multiple broken ribs, an injury that forced me to step away and tested both my physical and mental resilience. Instead of letting it define me, I committed myself to the recovery process and came back determined to earn my place.
The following year brought another challenge when I came dangerously close to breaking my heel. Those experiences reminded me that this sport is as unforgiving as it is exciting. Every performance, every flip, and every dunk carries real risk, and years of training, competing, and performing take a significant toll on the body. Success in this profession isn’t just about talent—it’s about discipline, preparation, perseverance, and the willingness to keep showing up even after painful setbacks.
While chasing my dream of becoming a professional entertainer with the Bulls, I was also pursuing another lifelong goal: earning my pilot’s license. Balancing flight training with practices, performances, coaching, and rehabilitation from injuries required relentless time management and dedication. It taught me that growth often happens when you’re willing to pursue multiple dreams at once, even when the journey feels overwhelming.
Looking back, I’m grateful for every obstacle because each one strengthened my mindset and shaped who I am today. Those challenges taught me that adversity isn’t something to fear—it’s an opportunity to grow. Whether I’m coaching athletes, performing in front of thousands of fans, or continuing to chase new goals, I strive to lead by example and show that resilience, faith, and hard work can overcome even the toughest challenges.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Today, I specialize in athlete development, high-performance tumbling, acrobatic entertainment, and mentorship. Whether I’m coaching the next generation of champions, performing as a professional acrobatic dunker for the Chicago Bulls, or speaking to athletes about perseverance, my goal is to help others unlock their full potential both on and off the competition floor. I’m passionate about creating confident, disciplined athletes who believe in themselves long after their athletic careers are over.
Of all my accomplishments, one of the things I’m most proud of is earning my pilot’s license while balancing the demands of coaching, performing, traveling, recovering from injuries, and competing at the highest level. It taught me that with discipline, sacrifice, and consistency, it’s possible to pursue multiple dreams at once. Equally important to me is the impact I’ve had as a coach and mentor. Watching my athletes grow into confident young men and women, achieve goals they once thought were impossible, and become positive role models in their own communities is the greatest reward I could ever ask for. At the end of the day, championships, awards, and recognition are incredible, but the lives I get to influence will always be what I’m most proud of.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
One thing that has defined my journey is my willingness to take risks. From learning new tumbling skills and performing high-risk acrobatic stunts in front of thousands of fans to stepping onto the court as a professional dunker, I’ve learned that growth rarely happens inside your comfort zone. Every new skill comes with the possibility of failure or injury, and I’ve experienced both. Breaking multiple ribs, nearly breaking my heel, and enduring the physical demands of years of training have all taught me that success requires courage, resilience, and the determination to get back up every time you’re knocked down.
The biggest risks I’ve taken haven’t only been in athletics—they’ve been in business and leadership as well. Starting my own tumbling team meant betting on myself, building something from the ground up, and creating opportunities for athletes to chase their own dreams. Today, I’m incredibly proud to celebrate five years of leading my program, watching it grow into a nationally competitive team and earning a Top 10 finish at the 2026 USTA National Championships among more than 100 teams. Seeing the confidence, character, and success of my athletes has made every challenge worthwhile.
I’ve also challenged myself outside of sports by becoming an entrepreneur. Last year, I launched my own real estate investment company, focused on wholesaling and fixing up homes. Just like coaching and performing, real estate has required me to step into unfamiliar territory, embrace uncertainty, and continuously learn. Building a business from the ground up has reinforced the same lessons athletics has taught me: success comes to those who stay consistent, solve problems, and refuse to quit when things get difficult.
When I look back on my journey, I’m proud of far more than awards or titles. I’m proud that I’ve had the courage to chase opportunities that scared me, whether it was starting a business, building a nationally competitive tumbling program, earning my pilot’s license while balancing an incredibly demanding schedule, or performing at the highest level in front of thousands of fans. My hope is that my story inspires others to take risks, trust God’s plan, and realize that the greatest opportunities in life often begin with the courage to take the first step.
