Conversations with Charles Walden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Walden.

Hi Charles, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My love for music started when I was a kid. I fell in love with the sound of the drums—the rhythm, the energy, and the feeling of simply playing without knowing anything except that it made me happy. Growing up in church, I was inspired by watching my cousin play the drums, which made me want a set of my own. After getting my first drum kits, I taught myself how to play and eventually began performing in church. That passion soon grew beyond the drums, leading me to perform in school plays, sing solos in chorus, and discover that music was something I had a real talent for. Those early experiences laid the foundation for the artist I’m continuing to become today.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been an easy road, but it has never stopped my grind. Most people know I come from the dirt, so everything I’ve built comes from grit, resilience, and hard work. For a long time, I was just in survival mode, handling life and trying to stay afloat. Now that I’m finally settled, I can fully lock back in with my music and get back in the studio. The journey has been tough, but I’ve learned to trust the process because the struggle is what makes the success so meaningful. You can’t hate the struggle—it builds the person you’re meant to become.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an independent recording artist known as Raw Talent, and Get Use To It is more than a slogan—it’s the mindset behind everything I do. My music blends hip-hop with melodic elements to create records that are honest, energetic, and rooted in real-life experiences. I make music for people who’ve had to fight for everything they’ve earned, turning struggle into motivation and pain into purpose.
What I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve stayed committed to my vision. I’ve built my career independently, continuing to create and grow without waiting for someone else to validate my talent. Every step has come through persistence, faith, and believing in myself even when the road wasn’t easy.
What sets me apart is my authenticity. I don’t chase trends or try to fit into a certain lane. I create from experience, and every song reflects a chapter of my journey. Get Use To It represents confidence, resilience, and being unapologetically yourself. I want people to hear my music and know they’re listening to someone who’s lived what they’re talking about. At the end of the day, I want my legacy to be about inspiring others to keep pushing, no matter where they come from or what they’re up against.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Where I come from, I don’t really believe in luck—I believe in having the talent, the discipline, and the mindset to make something happen. I’ve seen a lot, lost a lot, and those experiences shaped the way I move today. I’ve always tried to separate myself from the things I don’t want to become and stay focused on the person I’m fighting to be.
My grind may look different from most. I might be laid back on the outside, but behind the scenes I’m always working, making moves, and manifesting the vision I have for myself. The journey hasn’t been easy—I’ve felt every emotion along the way. But when you truly believe in something, you’re willing to fight through every high and every low to stand for what you know you’re meant to become.
