Daily Inspiration: Meet Crystal St. John

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal St. John.

Hi Crystal , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from Colorado, where I developed an early love for the countryside, country music, and the kind of community that feels grounded and connected. For a time, I dreamed of becoming a country singer, but my own journey of healing, self-discovery, and working through childhood trauma during college ultimately led me in a different direction.

As I experienced the impact that support, healthy relationships, and emotional healing could have on a person’s life, I felt drawn to psychology and counseling. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder and later completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Over the past decade, I have had the privilege of walking alongside women, couples, and families through seasons of change, loss, growth, motherhood, relationship challenges, anxiety, body-image concerns, and emotional wellness. I am passionate about helping people feel seen, supported, and equipped with practical tools to build healthier connections, greater resilience, and more peace in their everyday lives. My work integrates evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Restoration Therapy, through a strengths-based and faith-informed lens.

Alongside my work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have also spent years in the fitness and wellness space, first as a fitness instructor and now as a Pilates instructor. That experience deepened my passion for mind-body health and the role that movement, breath, emotional support, and intentional self-care can play in healing.

Today, I am also a speaker, wellness educator, licensed Realtor in Temecula, California, and a mom of three. I have been part of MOPS/MomCo since just before my oldest son was born, who is now seven, so this community holds a very personal place in my heart. I especially love supporting women as they navigate the demands of motherhood, relationships, identity, and the many transitions life brings. I also have a heart for military and first responder families, couples, and families who are carrying unique pressures and responsibilities.

My hope is that through practical tools, encouragement, and authentic connection, people leave feeling more supported, more confident, and more equipped to move forward with hope.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. As I shared, I have my own history with trauma and have struggled with anxiety, body image as well as the belief that I needed to perform or achieve in order to be successful or loved. Through my faith and healing journey, I have had to do a great deal of personal work, learning to extend myself grace, build healthier patterns, and find confidence rooted in something deeper than accomplishment. I now have the privilege of walking alongside others coming from an empathetic “me too” perspective.

I also paid my own way through school while building a career and eventually starting my own private practice. Along the way, I navigated major life transitions, including getting married, moving across the country twice, and becoming a mom to three children, who are now seven, five, and two. Balancing education, career goals, business ownership, motherhood, marriage, and personal growth has required perseverance, flexibility, and a willingness to keep moving forward even when things felt uncertain or overwhelming.

While the road has included challenges, it has also been deeply rewarding. Those experiences have given me greater compassion and a genuine understanding of how difficult it can be to navigate change, pressure, relationships, and the many responsibilities life brings. I have a sincere love for people and for helping others feel supported, and that has continued to motivate me through every season. I also am an ever learner and entrepeneur so I am a realtor on the side to get from behind the desk and help families in the big transition of moving, buying and selling their home. It’s a grind but such a blessing and wouldn’t trade the fun I have in my diverse career paths.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, speaker, wellness educator, Pilates instructor, and licensed Realtor in Temecula, California. At the heart of all of my work is a genuine love for people and a desire to help them feel supported, capable, and connected through the many transitions life brings.

I am licensed as an LMFT in both California and Tennessee and serve clients throughout the greater San Diego area, Nashville, and Knoxville through my online practice with Restoration Therapy Center. For more than a decade, I have worked with women, couples, and families navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, motherhood, body-image concerns, life transitions, and emotional wellness. I also have a special heart for military and first responder families, who often carry unique pressures, schedules, and responsibilities.

My approach is strengths-based, practical, and faith-informed, integrating evidence-based tools such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Restoration Therapy when appropriate. I am known for creating a warm, honest, and encouraging space where people can feel seen without judgment while also receiving practical support they can use in everyday life.

I care deeply about helping women navigate the demands of motherhood, identity, relationships, and personal growth, while helping couples and families build healthier communication, stronger connection, and greater resilience. My work in fitness and Pilates has also shaped the way I view wellness. I believe healing is not only mental or emotional, but also connected to how we care for our bodies, manage stress, breathe, move, rest, and create sustainable rhythms in our lives.

Whether I am working with someone in a counseling setting, teaching movement, speaking to a group, or serving a real estate client through a major life transition, I aim to bring the same sense of care, integrity, and encouragement.

What I am most proud of is the trust people place in me during meaningful and often vulnerable seasons of their lives. I do not take that responsibility lightly. What sets me apart is the combination of my professional training, personal experience, faith, mind-body wellness background, and ability to connect with people in a genuine and relatable way. My goal is always to help people leave feeling more supported, more hopeful, and more equipped to move forward.

How do you think about luck?
I would not necessarily describe my journey in terms of good luck or bad luck. As a woman of faith, I believe there is purpose in both the opportunities and challenges that come my way, and that God can use every season for growth, refinement, and good. I also believe deeply in hard work, consistency, learning from mistakes, and continuing to grow even when a plan does not unfold the way I expected.

There have certainly been endeavors I felt excited about, such as specialized groups or events, that did not gain the momentum I hoped they would. Those experiences were humbling, but they also taught me valuable lessons about timing, community needs, communication, and the importance of staying flexible. Rather than viewing them as failures, I see them as part of the learning process that helped shape how I serve people today.

At the same time, I have been grateful to witness many meaningful stories of growth, healing, restored relationships, and personal success through my work. Building a thriving practice and career has taken years of showing up consistently, investing in relationships, serving my community, and continuing to learn. I am thankful for the doors that have opened, but I also recognize the steady work, faith, perseverance, and willingness to keep going that helped make those opportunities possible.
