Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenny Hanover (Keha).
Hi Kenny, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been into music. I started making beats because I thought it was fun, and over time I realized I loved the whole creative process, especially recording and working with artists. That eventually led me to SAE Institute in Nashville and to starting my own recording and mixing business.
It definitely hasn’t been a straight path. I’ve worked construction with my dad, taken care of animals on a farm, and done whatever I needed to do while building my studio and investing in better equipment. Every dollar I’ve made has pretty much gone right back into learning or improving my setup.
The biggest thing I’ve learned is that relationships matter just as much as talent. Some of my favorite opportunities have come from simply meeting people, showing up, and trying to help however I can. Nashville is full of incredibly talented artists, and getting to be a small part of their journey is what keeps me motivated.
Right now I’m focused on growing as a producer and engineer, meeting more artists, and putting together bigger projects of my own. My goal is to build something that lasts, not just make good music, but create a place where artists feel comfortable, inspired, and leave with something they’re proud of.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building a career in music while trying to pay bills isn’t easy. There have been plenty of times where I’ve worked construction during the day, spent nights in the studio, and wondered if everything I was doing would eventually pay off.
One of the biggest challenges has honestly been learning to balance life with chasing my goals. When you’re trying to build something from nothing, it’s easy to put everything into your work and forget about the people around you or even yourself. I’ve had moments where I’ve had to take a step back, learn from mistakes, and grow as a person.
Financially, it’s also been a challenge. Every piece of gear, every plugin, every upgrade has been something I’ve worked for. There wasn’t a big investment or shortcut, I just kept reinvesting in myself little by little.
Looking back, I don’t regret any of it. Every setback has taught me something, whether it was about music, business, or life. Those experiences have made me a better producer, a better engineer, and, more importantly, a better person. I’m still learning every day, but I think that’s part of what makes this journey worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I wear a lot of hats. I’m a producer, recording engineer, mixing engineer, and artist. While I love producing, I think what I enjoy most is working directly with artists in the studio and helping them bring their ideas to life. Seeing someone walk in with a rough idea and leave with a record they’re proud of is one of the best feelings.
I don’t think what sets me apart is necessarily my sound, it’s how I approach people. I genuinely care about the artists I work with. I want them to feel comfortable enough to be creative, take risks, and make the best music possible. I see myself as part of the team, not just the guy behind the computer.
One thing I’m really proud of is building everything from the ground up. I’ve invested in my own equipment, gone to school for audio engineering, and continued working construction and other jobs while growing my business. Every opportunity has been earned through consistency, networking, and showing up.
I’m also proud of the relationships I’ve built in Nashville. This city is full of incredibly talented people, and being able to collaborate with artists, producers, and engineers here has helped me grow both creatively and professionally. I’m excited to keep building those relationships and continue creating music that people connect with.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Honestly, I’m happiest when I’m creating something. Whether it’s producing a beat, recording an artist, mixing a song, or even just sitting in the studio talking music for hours, that’s where I feel the most like myself.
Outside of music, I love being outdoors. Fishing has become one of my favorite ways to slow down and clear my head. There’s something about getting away from the noise, being around nature, and just enjoying the moment that helps me reset.
I’m also happiest when I get to spend time with the people I care about. Building relationships, helping people however I can, and seeing the people around me succeed is something that’s become really important to me. I think life is a lot more meaningful when you’re growing alongside other people instead of trying to do everything alone.
At the end of the day, I’m happiest when I’m making progress. It doesn’t have to be anything huge, just knowing I’m one step closer to the life I’m trying to build is enough to keep me motivated.
