Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Woodley.
Hi Cheryl, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got the event planning bug from my mother and aunts back home in Mississippi. I would be the little helper with coronations and weddings. I would do anything from placing decorations to lining people up in their respective spaces. When I moved to Nashville, I found an avenue to continue my love of events on a broader scale. It eventually led to me starting my own business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It absolutely has NOT been smooth, however, I truly believed it helped me in several aspects of my life today. Some of the hurdles include clients not understanding just how important the smallest detail matters to the totality of the event. My tagline for the business is “It’s All in the Details!” It serves as a reminder that every single thing matters in the grand scheme of things.

Events by Cheryl started out as an event planning and coordinating service that provided a beautifully detailed and curated experience for the client. I’ve serviced clients for weddings, receptions, baby showers, birthday parties, conferences. I’ve even done events for music artists over the course of 15 years.
I pivoted into the consulting space for my business providing information to those starting in the event space and assisting previous clients in planning as well.
I am most proud of the fact that I have repeat clients needing some type of assistance and the referrals they provide.

Most people don’t know that I’m not as hands on with events as I once was. I have started working with survivors of domestic violence and making sure that they know they can still live and thrive, just like me.
