Today we’d like to introduce you to Virgil Cash.
Hi Virgil, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My whole career started with peer pressure. Basically after high school, my friends wanted to rap. I had the computer and a cheap ten dollar mic. I said I would engineer, they said nah you are rapping and it put me on the path to be who I am today. Since that time all those years ago, I have joined a group called Grimey Rhyme Regime, got a degree as a mixing engineer, and become one of the best known unknown producers in my city. I learned most of these extra talents because I had nobody to help me with these situations. Now, here we are!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel like being an artist there is no such thing as a smooth road. It’s folks taking advantage. Being new and not understanding the business. Putting on your own shows cause it’s hard to get booked. And the biggest things, being time and funding to give to the artistry. At first, figuring out the balancing of life and being an artist, finding your voice, and not giving into what’s hot at the moment. It was hard to find producers and engineers. Being an artist will break you or cause you to quit based on trying to do everything yourself or finding people to believe enough to be part of your team. Dealing with other entities will cause you to be disengaged either way the whole system including the music. For a while, I was jaded by the dealing with others in the business. I have recently found my way back!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a hip-hop artist/seasoning purveyor/engineer/producer/amateur chef.
I specialize in making people feel something. It might be for them to hear, or to taste, or something to see. Trying to make life a little more enjoyable to folks in a world that seems against us!
I am know in my area for a seasoning brand like none other out there called Big Bruh’s Seasoning. LLC. I am known as Methodical Wun as an artist, engineer, producer, host, and promoter, who also works for the production company called Tempo Tavern LLC.
I’m proud of all the work I have accomplished. The many mixtapes, the albums, my upcoming projects, my additions to the scene in the Louisville area, the artist that I have helped and worked with on a consistent basis., and the ability to be a stand up person in the midst of everything.
I’m different cause folks tell me so. I’m willing to try things and to experiment. I have my own sound but I’m not scared to mess around with it.. I am an artist extraordinaire. There is no form or art that I am not good in or don’t excel at.
