Hi Matthew, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I taught myself to play piano and sing when I was just four years old, and music has been a part of my life ever since. Growing up, I spent countless hours writing poems and stories without realizing they were the foundation of something much bigger. It wasn’t until high school, when I discovered country music, that I finally found a home for those stories. I realized the songs I loved were saying the same kinds of things I had been trying to express all along. During the COVID pandemic, I taught myself to play guitar and completely fell in love with songwriting. The more I wrote, the more I realized this wasn’t just a hobby—it was what I wanted to dedicate my life to. That passion ultimately led me to pack up, move to Nashville, and pursue a career as a country artist and songwriter.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This industry is definitely a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Once your passion becomes something you want to pursue as a career, it changes the way you look at it. Something that once brought you pure joy can suddenly feel like something you have to prove to other people, and that can be a lot, especially when you’re just starting out. There have been plenty of moments where I’ve questioned myself and wondered if I was on the right path, but music has always been something I can’t imagine my life without, and that realization is what keeps pushing me forward. Looking back, one of the most rewarding parts has been seeing how much I’ve grown as a songwriter and an artist. I’m finally creating songs that I’m truly proud of, and being able to look back and see how far I’ve come makes all of the challenges along the way worth it.

I am an independent country artist and songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. My music blends vivid storytelling with a modern country sound, combining memorable hooks with authentic lyrics inspired by the people, places, and experiences that have shaped my life. I’m most proud of finding my voice as an artist and getting to a place where my music feels like a true reflection of who I am. I think one of the things that sets me apart is my commitment to constantly learning and improving. I’m always listening to my favorite artists, studying what makes their songs connect, and finding ways to apply those lessons to my own writing while still staying true to who I am. Songwriting is something I never stop working on, and I think that’s why I’ve grown so much over the past few years. I remember struggling to write a complete song, and now I’m creating music that I’m genuinely proud of. Looking back at that growth reminds me how far I’ve come, and it motivates me to keep raising the bar with every song I write.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think one of the biggest shifts we’ll continue to see is fans placing even more value on authenticity. There’s so much content being put out every day that people can tell when an artist is being genuine versus when they’re simply chasing a trend. I think the artists who will stand out over the next five to ten years are the ones who stay true to themselves, tell honest stories, and consistently put out great music. Especially in country music, the songs that last are the ones that make people feel understood, and I think that connection between the artist and the listener will always be one of the most important parts of this industry.
