Today we’d like to introduce you to Larrisha Fletcher.
Hi Larrisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Fashion has always been a part of who I am. Growing up, I was fascinated by clothing and the way it could make people feel confident, beautiful, and seen. Although I briefly attended Middle Tennessee State University, I ultimately decided to teach myself how to sew and design through countless hours of practice, trial and error, and determination. What started as a passion quickly grew into a purpose. Over the years, I’ve specialized in creating custom gowns that help women celebrate some of the biggest moments of their lives, from proms to weddings and other special occasions. Seeing a client’s reaction when they put on a dress made just for them is what continues to inspire me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like many entrepreneurs, my journey hasn’t been without challenges. There’s always people who will doubt you, not support you and even tear you down. Building my brand required patience, consistency, and believing in my vision even when the path wasn’t clear. Every setback taught me something valuable and pushed me to become a better designer and business owner. This is a God given gift and I have to keep that in mind when facing struggles.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is centered around creating handcrafted, custom gowns and special occasion wear that are designed specifically for each client. Every piece is made from the ground up with careful attention to detail, craftsmanship, and fit. I design custom looks for milestone moments, including proms, weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations where my clients want to feel truly one of a kind.
What sets me apart is that I’m completely self-taught. Everything I know has come from years of dedication, experimentation, and refining my craft. My design aesthetic is rooted in high fashion with a feminine point of view. I love incorporating intricate embellishments, luxurious fabrics, and dramatic details that make each garment feel elevated, timeless, and unforgettable. My goal is to create pieces that not only make women look beautiful but also make them feel confident and extraordinary on some of the most important days of their lives. I’m still growing, learning, and evolving, but I’m grateful for how far I’ve come and excited for what’s ahead.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family and friends. My parents took a chance on my dream from the very beginning. After I decided to leave college to pursue fashion, they believed in me even before I had a business to show for it. They opened their home to me, allowing me to create, sew, and even meet with clients there while I was building my brand. Having that kind of support gave me the space and confidence to grow without the pressure of having everything figured out right away.
I’m also incredibly grateful for my friends, who have been some of my biggest cheerleaders. In the early days, they modeled my designs, helped me put together low-budget photoshoots, and trusted my creative ideas—even when I couldn’t fully explain the vision I had in my head. They showed up, encouraged me, and believed in my talent before many other people did.
Of course, my clients deserve so much credit as well. Every person who trusted me to create a custom gown, referred me to someone else, or shared my work helped build my business one dress at a time. Their trust has allowed me to continue doing what I love, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
