Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Millwood.
Hi Audrey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Audrey Marie Photography began during my freshman year of high school with a simple love for capturing meaningful moments, but photography runs much deeper in my story. My great-grandfather had a passion for photography, and I was born on his birthday, which has always made me feel a special connection to him and his love for preserving memories. Looking back, it feels like photography has always been part of my story. What started as a creative hobby has grown into a purpose-driven business rooted in connection, storytelling, and serving others.
Today, I photograph weddings, couples, families, seniors, branding sessions, and lifestyle moments. Whether I’m documenting one of life’s biggest milestones or helping a business tell its story through intentional branding imagery, my goal is always the same: to create authentic, timeless photographs that reflect each client’s unique vision.
From the very beginning, my focus has never been solely on taking beautiful images. I want to understand each client’s story and create photographs that allow them to relive their most meaningful moments for years to come. That philosophy is reflected in my motto, “Your Vision, My Lens,” which guides every session and every relationship I build.
What I’m most proud of is building this business from the ground up after starting it during my freshman year of high school. Growing alongside my business has taught me perseverance, creativity, and the importance of genuine connection. At the end of the day, I hope my clients leave with more than beautiful photographs. I hope they leave with memories they can cherish and pass down for generations
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been building a photography business in Middle Tennessee, where the market is incredibly saturated with talented photographers. Standing out can be difficult, especially when you’re competing with so many established businesses. I’ve learned that success isn’t about trying to be like everyone else, but about staying true to my style, creating a great client experience, and building genuine relationships. There have been slow seasons, moments of self-doubt, and times when I’ve questioned whether I was good enough, but each challenge has pushed me to improve my craft, strengthen my brand, and trust that the right clients will find me.
Or, if you want it to sound a little more personal:
It hasn’t always been easy. Middle Tennessee has an incredibly talented photography community, which also means it’s a very saturated market. There have been times when it’s felt difficult to stand out or book consistently, especially in the beginning. I’ve also had moments where I questioned myself and compared my work to others. Over time, I’ve realized that every photographer brings something different to the table. Focusing on serving my clients well, creating images that reflect my style, and continuing to grow has helped me overcome those challenges. Those obstacles have made me a stronger photographer and business owner today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in wedding, couples, and portrait photography with a bright, timeless, and true-to-life style. I’m driven by the desire to create timeless images that allow people to return to their most meaningful moments again and again. At the heart of my work is connection. I believe the best photographs come from genuine relationships, so I take the time to get to know each client, allowing their personalities and emotions to shine naturally in every image.
What I’m most proud of is building Audrey Marie Photography from the ground up after starting my business during my freshman year of high school. Growing a business while balancing school, college, and life has taught me the value of hard work, consistency, and serving others well. Since 2019, I’ve had the privilege of documenting some of life’s biggest milestones, and it’s a responsibility I never take for granted.
What sets me apart is the experience I provide. Beyond creating beautiful photographs, I strive to make every client feel comfortable, cared for, and fully present throughout the process. My goal is to create images that not only reflect how a moment looked but also how it felt, preserving memories that families can cherish for generations.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe my journey has been defined by luck. While building a business has taken hard work, dedication, and perseverance, I believe God has been faithfully guiding every step along the way. Looking back, I can see how He has opened doors, placed the right people in my path, and provided opportunities I never could have planned on my own. There have also been seasons of uncertainty that challenged me to trust His timing rather than my own.
One verse that has always encouraged me is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” That verse reminds me that God has a purpose for every season, even when I can’t see the full picture. My success isn’t something I attribute to luck, but to God’s faithfulness and the opportunities He has graciously provided.
