Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Allen.
Hi Jordan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been a magician since I was 5. Got my first magic kit for Valentine’s Day in the 2nd grade. My first public performance was around 2000 and I really got going around 2007. Took a haitus when for 4 years while I was in undergrad at Murray State. Around 2017 I learned about the the Fringe Theatre festivals and I got into it in 2018 for the first Louisville Fringe & then the 2019 Indy Fringe.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? Ha! The hardest thing to get is attention. Magic is in the best place it’s ever been but negative stereotypes still exist – people mistakenly thing it’s only for toddlers & little kids – why should a sophisticated adult bother? Ironically, contrary to the stereotypes – my shows & audiences are adult focused.
We live in a very distracted world & getting attention is very difficult
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a magician & beekeeper but I want to focus on the magic here because it’s a bulk of what I do.
I do a lot of adult birthdays, bachelorette parties & weddings as of late. This year is mostly focused on the fringe circuit as I’m touring 4 cities this year – Atlanta, Cleveland, Kansas City & Indianapolis
What makes you happy?
It can really be anything but I’ve found a lot of pleasure in botanical gardens as of late
