Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuck Nelson.
Hi Chuck, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The Bicho Brothers Band formed in 2005 to deliver live entertainment featuring classic rock hits and standards. The six-piece band includes drums, bass guitar, Latin percussion, keyboards, two guitars, and four vocalists. The current lineup features Chuck Nelson (leader, guitar, vocals), Jeff Krinks (guitar, vocals), Kenny Zarider (keyboards), Mike Claiborne (bass guitar, vocals), Diana Sosa (Latin percussion, vocals), and Ron Krasinski (drums).
Over the years, the band has built a strong reputation for high-energy shows and for performing cover songs as closely as possible to the original arrangements. Their performances have expanded from the Nashville market to regional shows throughout the Southeastern United States.
The Bicho Brothers are seasoned musicians who share a passion for creating great music and connecting with audiences. Their blend of classic rock with Latin percussion creates a sound that resonates with listeners everywhere. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The early years were challenging as we searched for the right combination of musicians to define the Bicho Brothers. However, since 2009, it has been a smooth journey as we have evolved into a close-knit family of brothers and sister.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I began playing guitar at the age of seven and continued through high school and college, performing in small local bands. After graduate school, I joined the band Sojourn in San Antonio, Texas, and performed throughout Texas for 10 years.
When Sojourn disbanded, I worked for a promotional agency in Chicago, producing national music tours for one of its major clients. After that contract ended, I moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and joined Word Entertainment as Vice President of Creative and Artist Development. In that role, I oversaw all visual aspects for artists on the Word roster and for distributed labels, including packaging, advertising, promotional materials, music videos, online and live performances. I also led and executive produced the official CD for World Youth Day 2000, working closely with the Vatican.
After leaving Word, I formed The Bicho Brothers.
What makes you happy?
I am happiest performing live. I love making music with other great musicians and connecting with audiences each night. Their energy inspires us to give even more in return, and that exchange is thrilling to me.
