Hidden Gems: Meet Sarah Ross of Sarah Ross Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Ross.

Hi Sarah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After 17 years in the music business and 7 years in the fitness industry, I felt a bit lost.

I loved what I had done up to that point in my life, yet I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was moving in to something different. I have always had a love for fitness and nutrition, which developed into a passion for overall wellness.

That thought is what brought me here, and you here.

Welcome.

My name is Sarah and I’m an achiever. An overachiever.

A retired rock star and active Fitness Trainer, Nutrition Coach and Wellness Coach. I have spent pretty much my entire adult life working on bettering myself. I also wasted way too much time striving for approval in what I did, instead of who I was. It was exhausting and I eventually got to the place where I broke and decided to figure out the why of myself, instead of just the who and what.

I was ready to make some changes in so many areas of my life. It took time, as growth always does. It was a gradual shift. Then slowly, I started to become aware of this feeling deep in my gut. Something inside of me was about to change for the better. In the midst of this journey, a desire to share the things I was learning and experiencing started to emerge. I wanted to help other people find the freedom I was experiencing in believing the truth of who I was and what I had to offer.

So, my new friend, here’s what I can offer you!

Truth. Vulnerability. Inspiration. Grace. Forward motion.

I desire to instill movement and inspire change through areas of fitness, nutrition and overall wellness. To help others understand themselves; to be able to be vulnerable; to find the drive to do the hard work; to become the best versions of themselves in their overall wellness by focusing on their mind, body and soul.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a journey of ups and downs, twists and turns and wins and losses! I started my fitness training business in 2012, offering in person training and nutrition coaching. Coming from touring in a band for 17 years, I didn’t want to work in a gym and be in the same place all the time. In 2019 I started building my wellness coaching program called ‘The Road to Wellness’, wanting to offer more than just movement to my clients, but an understanding on what keeps them stuck and how to renew those patterns and find true freedom in areas of the mind, body and the soul. Then 2020 hit and everything shifted, for everyone. I wasn’t traveling to clients anymore, but switched to virtual training. Some of my clients were on board, others didn’t want to do that and tried to stay consistent on their own. It was a learning curve of how to be engaging through a screen in the same way as I could in person. I started offering group virtual bootcamp training, which was fun and different and challenging for me because I loved in person so much. Through those struggles, I was able to have a hybrid of in person training/coaching, which is where I still am today!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Hi! I’m Sarah. I started working in the health and wellness world in 2012 with a passion to help others become the best version of themselves!

I struggled with an eating disorder for most of my young life, and used those destructive patterns to mask the pain of trauma and not feeling like I was good enough. I know how it feels to look in the mirror and not love what you see. I know how exhausting it is when you’re doing too much and on your way to burn out.

I want to inspire women to gain awareness of the patterns that have kept them stuck. Through training and coaching, you will have a safe place to become the woman that you were created to be. Without judgement or shame, you will learn to love your body, fuel your mind and nurture your soul!
