Hi Lainey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Although i’ve always thought of myself as a singer and musician, I never considered songwriting until I was in college. I never considered myself to be someone who could be an artist. I started writing fall of 2023 when I was going through some personal struggles, and realized it was the most effective emotional & creative outlet for me. After that it just flowed out of me naturally, and I fell in love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The mental blocks that have affected me the most throughout my songwriting journey have been comparison. Not feeling as productive, as active with promotion, and not feeling like I “wanted it” as much or for as long as others around me.

As an independent artist in Nashville, I specialize in melodies, lyrics and harmonies. I am most proud of the background vocal aspect of my songwriting, and with that, my chorus melodies. I feel like thats what Im really good at.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Always surround yourself with people that are better than you at what you do. Whether it is creative, or a completely corporate aspiration. Surrounding yourself with people much more talented than you in your area will constantly inspire and motivate you.
