Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Adair.
Sarah , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2013, I started Social Bliss Events while still working at my corporate job. My little side hustle began to flourish and even though the naysayers told me, “Have fun with your hobby. No one is going to pay you to plan bachelorette parties.” I was enthralled with Nashville becoming the “It City” and knew something was on the horizon. I became even more curious about the city and my career. In 2015, I was able to quit my corporate job and go full-time.
I was networking every chance I could get and constantly talking about SBE. I loved watching the business grow, and in 2016, I hired my very first day of team member. (The best news, Daisy still works with me, and I adore her.) In January 2020, we hosted our first international event in Cancun, Mexico. One month later, along with the rest of the world, events came to a screeching halt.
In 2021 in-person events finally came back, and one of our weddings was featured in People Magazine. We began to travel and execute events outside of Nashville. We celebrated 10 years of business in 2023 and traveled to Italy for an international wedding at Villa Cetinale.
Over the past 12 years, we’ve planned celebrations of a lifetime. I couldn’t do it without the incredible Social Bliss Events Dream Team, and I’m forever grateful for the most amazing clients who entrust us.
With a decade of knowledge and first-hand experience, we’re stepping into the educational circuit.We launched Build Your Bliss, an 8-week interactive course where we walk alongside Type A, savvy planners who want professional guidance while maximizing their event budget. We teach them everything they need to know to execute with excellence which includes recommending our vetted vendors, reviewing their timeline, layout and vendor sheet, and setting clients up for success with checklists and practical tips.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In 2015, I was able to quit my corporate job. Amazing, right? However, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. I had not planned for the cyclical seasons. In Nashville, the hospitality market slows down in January and February. During that first slow season, I was in for a rude awakening. To keep the cash flowing, I babysat on the side. I networked as much as possible and kept spreading the word about Social Bliss Events. Thankfully, we pulled through, but it’s integral to know your business inside and out.
