Conversations with Keshia Gooden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keshia Gooden.

Hi Keshia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my journey in 2017 at 220 pounds. I knew I wanted more for myself. I wanted to look better, feel better, and most importantly, live a healthier life. My motivation started with something simple, a pair of jeans that no longer fit. I carried those jeans with me everywhere I went as a reminder of the promise I made to myself. Every time I wanted to give up or make an excuse, those jeans reminded me why I started. Almost 10 years later, I’m 96 pounds down, and while I’m incredibly proud of the weight I’ve lost, I’m even more proud of the woman I’ve become. Every single day, I challenge myself to be better than I was the day before. I’ve learned that fitness isn’t just about transforming your body—it’s about transforming your mindset, your confidence, and your life. Along this journey, I found myself. I discovered strength I never knew I had, and with every goal I reached, I found the courage to dream even bigger. Watching my body transform has been amazing, but knowing that I had the discipline, determination, and faith to make it happen is what I’m most proud of. Now, one of my greatest passions is sharing what I’ve learned and helping other women realize that getting healthy and fit isn’t as impossible as it may seem. If I can inspire just one woman to believe in herself and take that first step, then every challenge I faced was worth it. This journey has never been about a number on the scale. It’s about choosing health, choosing myself, and choosing to be here for my children, my future grandchildren, and every beautiful moment God has planned for my life. I’m still becoming. I’m still growing. And I’ll never stop striving to be the best version of myself—one workout, one choice, and one day at a time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been easy. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve had to start over more times than I can count. I’ve had to completely change the way I approach fitness, nutrition, and, most importantly, my mindset. I’ve cried. I’ve questioned myself. I’ve had nights where I laid awake wondering if I was doing enough. I’ve looked in the mirror and felt disappointed. I realized growth isn’t always visible. Healing isn’t always instant. Transformation isn’t just about what changes on the outside—it’s about becoming stronger, more disciplined, and more patient on the inside. So if you’re in a season where you feel like you’re starting over, don’t quit. Give yourself grace. Keep showing up. Trust the process, even when you can’t see the results yet.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Just like Toni Childs said in Girlfriends, I specialize in results, that’s exactly what I believe.

My mission is to help women all over the world understand that fitness isn’t a punishment—it’s a necessity. Your body was created to move, and every time you choose to show up for yourself, you’re making an investment in your health, your confidence, and your future. You will never regret getting up and moving your body. You may regret skipping the workout, but you’ll never regret the one you finished. I don’t just train bodies—I help transform mindsets, build confidence, and remind women that they’re capable of so much more than they believe.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Honestly, I don’t believe in luck, I believe in God’s purpose. I believe God has designed every part of my life. Every setback, every tear, every victory, and every lesson has become part of my testimony so I can encourage someone else who’s walking a similar path. God has blessed me with this body and the gift of good health, and I don’t take either for granted. That’s why I choose to show up every single day—not because I have to, but because I want to honor the blessings He’s given me.
