Hidden Gems: Meet Cristina Pineda of Matchmakers In The City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristina Pineda.

Hi Cristina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began more than 14 years ago when my sister, Alessandra Conti, and I founded Matchmakers In The City. We were young entrepreneurs with a shared passion for relationships and helping people to find love. At the time, dating was already becoming increasingly impersonal, and we felt that there was still a need for thoughtful, hands-on matchmaking rooted in trust, discretion, and genuine care.

We started our company from the ground up, learning every part of the business ourselves. At the same time, our business grew almost entirely through word of mouth. In the early years, we personally handled everything, from interviewing clients and recruiting potential matches to planning dates and guiding clients through the emotional ups and downs of dating. Those experiences shaped the highly personalized approach that remains at the heart of our company today.

Over time, Matchmakers In The City grew from a small, sister-founded business into a nationally recognized boutique matchmaking firm based in Beverly Hills, CA with a strong service area in Nashville, TN, where I now live. We have had the privilege of working with accomplished singles throughout the United States and internationally, including entrepreneurs, executives, professionals, and public figures. Our work has also led to opportunities in television and media, including projects with Bravo, MTV, TLC, NBC, Relevant Radio and other major outlets.

One of the most meaningful parts of this journey has been building the company alongside my sister and creating a team of matchmakers who share our values. We have always believed that matchmaking is deeply personal work. Our clients trust us with one of the most important areas of their lives, and we take that responsibility seriously. Every introduction requires intuition, patience, honesty, and a true understanding of who someone is and what they need in a partner.

Today, I am grateful that we have remained a family-run, women-owned business while continuing to grow and evolve. The dating world has changed since we began, but the desire for genuine connection has remained the same. Helping people feel seen, supported, and hopeful about love continues to be the most rewarding part of what I do.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the greatest challenges has been growing a company while protecting the personal, intimate nature of the work. Matchmaking is very different from a traditional business; our clients are trusting us with an incredibly vulnerable part of their lives. There is no one-size-fits-all formula for love, so every client, introduction, and relationship requires care, discretion, emotional intelligence, and flexibility.

The dating landscape has also changed since we started. Dating apps and social media have created more access to potential partners, but they have also brought new challenges, including dating fatigue, endless options, lack of accountability, and difficulty forming genuine connections. We have had to continue evolving while staying true to the old-school, highly personalized approach that inspired us to begin the company in the first place.

Today, I live in Nashville, which has become an important service area for our company, while Matchmakers In The City remains based in Beverly Hills. Expanding into different cities has taught us how unique dating culture can be from one place to another. What successful singles are looking for may be universal in many ways, but how people meet, date, and build community can vary greatly depending on the city.

Through every challenge, we have remained committed to our core values of integrity, discretion, compassion, and genuine human connection.

We’ve been impressed with Matchmakers In The City, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Matchmakers In The City is a boutique, personal matchmaking company based in Beverly Hills, serving clients throughout the United States and internationally. My sister, Alessandra Conti, and I founded the company more than 14 years ago to offer successful, relationship-minded singles a more thoughtful and personal alternative to dating apps.

We specialize in curated introductions, confidential matchmaking, date coaching, and concierge support. Our team takes the time to understand each client’s values, lifestyle, personality, and relationship goals before personally selecting and reviewing potential matches.

What sets us apart is our old-school, hands-on approach. We are a family-run company, and every client receives personal attention, discretion, and genuine care. We have grown primarily through word of mouth while remaining true to our values of integrity, privacy, and meaningful connection.

Although our company remains based in Beverly Hills, I live in Nashville, which is also an important service area for us. We want readers to know that matchmaking offers a more intentional and supported way to find lasting love.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I believe matchmaking will become even more valuable as people grow tired of endless swiping and surface-level connections. Technology and AI will continue to shape dating, but I think singles will increasingly seek trusted human guidance, thoughtful vetting, and more personalized support. The future of our industry will be a blend of smart technology and old-school matchmaking, with a greater focus on safety, shared values, and creating meaningful relationships.
