Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Crowe.
Edward, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve had a very interesting life. As a child, I was a visual artist using mediums such as paint on canvas, clay, and spray paint for murals and graffiti art.
I went toschool for theater and visual arts in highschool, and Memphis College of art before returning to Nashville to open a recording studio called the Phoenix room on 3rd Ave., South downtown. There I cut my teeth as a manager. I started off as an artist and overtime realized that I was performing the tasks for all the artists that I had recording at the studio of a manager. It’s time went on a sharpen my skills and eventually linked back up with a very close friend, Yelawolf.. Over the last 17 years, I played just about every role in his career other than driving the bus. I started off selling merch, moved on to tour photographer, then Tour Manager, finally, we signed a management agreement in Switzerland in 2020 on the Ghetto Cowboy European tour..
I’ve always been infatuated by magic. As a teenager, I was a performing magician, doing everything from close-up magic to stage illusions. Over the years, the magic has become more mature in my mind and as an adult, I have transformed into a Mystic. I feel this is just the grown-up magician.
At 16 I was diagnosed with Gullian Barre syndrome. This is a rare syndrome, your chances of getting it a one in 100,000. You have a better chance of getting struck by lightning. Somehow I ended up with the worst case Crozier Chester Medical Center had ever seen. I was even on world news tonight with Dan rather because of the extreme case of Gullian Barre that I had. I was on life-support and could not move my eyelids or my toes. After over a month in the ICU finally I was moved to ICU step down then rehab where I learned how to walk again. This part of my life gave me time trapped inside my body to contemplate what I would do if I was given another chance. I believe that a lot of my courage and motivation comes from the time I was trapped inside of my body and fully conscious. I have a cigar brand called murder cigars, they’re called murder because that’s what you call a group of crows. My name is Edward Crowe iand a pack of the cigars we call a murder. I’m a cofounder of SEBEK distribution company iand 12th Dynasty management company. I am also a high dose ceremonial psilocybin facilitator and a psychonaut myself. I am a serial entrepreneur, dealing in everything from music business to real estate.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
From my experience, success has never been an easy road. Definitely not in my case. I personally have failed many many times. But I believe it’s more about continuing to attempt.
Sometimes you have to pivot, sometimes you have to reinvent, but if you stay focused, and ferocious, and are willing to adapt as you learn and grow, you do what you love in the success will follow..
I started in the music business as an artist. When I linked back up with Wolf, I knew he was the greatest and me doing the same thing seemed foolish. I knew I was destined for success and greatness but I had to pivot. That pivot was one of the smartest moves I ever made in my journey towards my success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m most known as a music business executive in Nashville, Tennessee, the country music capital of the world. I manage Yelawolf, who is a hip-hop rock ‘n’ roll act, and an artist named Huntley who won The Voice and is a blues rock act out of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
I am most passionate about and specialize in one on one high dose ceremonial use of psilocybin.
I’m not sure what sets me apart from others, maybe that I’ve somehow found a way to walk the line that separates business and creative, which is uncommon and not easy
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like good people, and I dislike cold dark days.
