Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Zmed.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As of 2026, my brother Zach and I have been working together professionally for nearly fifteen years as The Zmed Brothers, celebrating what we like to call Blood Harmony Americana. We were born and raised in Southern California, splitting our childhood between life with our mom—a retired second-grade teacher of more than thirty years—and touring the country with our dad, actor and singer Adrian Zmed. Those two worlds shaped us equally: one grounded in education and family, the other in storytelling and the stage.
After wrapping up our Los Angeles-based original band, The Janks, in 2015, we partnered with Burleigh Drummond Jr. and created The Everly Brothers Experience. Since then, we’ve spent much of our lives on the road, honoring the music and legacy of Don and Phil Everly while performing for audiences across North America and beyond. Along the way, we immersed ourselves in the rich tradition of American family harmony singing, which ultimately became the foundation of our own musical identity—Blood Harmony Americana.
In 2018, we relocated to Columbia, Tennessee, where we both met our wives and started families of our own. Our story now has deep West Coast roots intertwined with new Appalachian ones. We like to tell audiences we went from Aloha to Yeehaw, from sunshine to moonshine, from hangin’ ten to two-steppin’. Our music reflects that journey—a little surf and a little turf… cowabunga cowboy music… we can keep going.
Today we continue to tour extensively while producing several original and tribute productions. Our newest show, Honky Tonk Harmonies, celebrates the golden age of country music through the tradition of the great brother duos. Having relocated to Tennessee, this show is—in a lot of ways—a right of passage to us. Imagine the Wilburn Brothers, Louvin Brothers, Delmore Brothers, Everly Brothers, and Jim & Jesse all put together a tribute to the great heirloom tunes that built Nashville and the Bakersfield Sound. At the same time, we’re excited to be preparing the release of our first full-length original album in many years, which we’ll be touring in support of soon.
Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the incredible mentors who believed in us and helped shape our journey. Billy Steinberg, Del Bryant, Bill Cooper, Richie Podolor, and, most of all, our dear friend Rich Rees each played a lasting role in encouraging us to pursue this path and become the artists we are today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are several ways I could answer this question, but I think the most meaningful is to talk about the unique challenges of being brothers who own a business together, tour together, create together, and spend most of our lives side by side. Anyone with siblings can appreciate that family relationships come with their own built-in complexities. Ours is no exception.
Yet despite those inevitable challenges—or perhaps because of them—it has also been the greatest blessing of our lives, both as brothers and as musicians. We’ve learned that lasting harmony isn’t just something you sing; it’s something you practice every day through humility, patience, forgiveness, and a shared commitment to serving something greater than your own ambitions. That has been the guiding force behind our partnership and the reason we’ve been able to keep making music together all these years.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well, first and foremost, I suppose our last name is what immediately sets us apart… ZMED. It’s certainly not from Kentucky! The Zmed Bros mission is to do our part in carrying the torch for the rich tradition of blood harmony as it particularly relates to the American country duo. We are perhaps best known for our internationally acclaimed presentation, The Everly Brothers Experience—Don and Phil brought this tradition from its gospel, folk, country, and rnb roots to a global pop stage at one of the most pivotal time in music history— but our passion extends far beyond a single show. Through our original music and other various other productions/opportunities, we hope to preserve and celebrate the family thread that runs through the very deepest roots of American music.

A final though on this topic.. I’d say more than anything, we are grateful for the privilege of sharing these songs with audiences across the country and abroad. Whether they’re timeless classics or new songs written in that same spirit, we see them as heirloom tunes—music, stories, feelings all lovingly passed from one generation to the next, reminding us that the Great American Songbook is not just collecting dust in grandma’s old piano chair, but a history and music worth keeping alive.

Come see us live and buy our record when it’s available. We play in Nashville’s “big backyard” as a duo all the time. We also tour all over. Those are the best was to support us. These days there is a premium on live entertainment more so than ever— it’s a real relationship. One you can trust and feel.
At our core, we’re a small family-run business consisting of my brother, Zach Zmed, our longtime friend and business partner, Burleigh Drummond Jr.—who serves as our booking agent, tour manager, drummer, and co-owner of our touring company—and myself, Dylan Zmed.
Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to work with an incredible rotating cast of musicians who have become an extension of our musical family. We also recognize that we wouldn’t be where we are today without the generosity, wisdom, and encouragement of mentors and friends who believed in us long before we were established. People like Rich Rees, along with a handful of others, helped open doors, offered guidance, and invested in us in ways we’ll never forget.
As our projects continue to grow, we’re always excited to meet artists, presenters, promoters, and creative partners who share our love for American roots music, authentic storytelling, and the spirit of close harmony. We believe the best work is organically grown, built on genuine relationships, mutual respect, and the understanding that good work becomes greater than the sum of its parts.
