Hidden Gems: Meet Britanee Hughes of Music City Protection, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Britanee Hughes.

Hi Britanee, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Music City Protection was founded in 2018 with a clear goal: to provide professional, dependable security services while building a company rooted in accountability, integrity, and strong relationships with both our clients and our officers.

What began as a locally focused security company has steadily grown into a full-service security provider supporting businesses, organizations, properties, and events throughout the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area. Over the years, we have expanded our capabilities to include armed and unarmed security, event security, mobile patrol, fire watch, executive protection, residential and commercial security, and customized security solutions based on each client’s needs.

A major part of our growth has come from understanding that effective security is about more than simply placing an officer at a location. We have continued to strengthen our operations by developing detailed post orders and standard operating procedures, improving officer training and supervision, investing in technology, and creating stronger systems for scheduling, reporting, communication, and accountability.

We have also expanded through **MCP Training**, allowing us to bring the same commitment to preparedness into professional and community education. Our training offerings include security officer training, firearms instruction, CPR/AED and First Aid, active-threat preparedness, and other safety-focused courses.

Like many growing businesses, our journey has included challenges, lessons, and opportunities to improve. Those experiences have helped shape the company we are today. We have learned the importance of being adaptable, setting high standards, listening to our clients, and continuously improving how we recruit, train, manage, and support our team.

Today, Music City Protection continues to grow while remaining focused on the principles that started the company: **professionalism, preparedness, accountability, and service**. We are proud of how far we have come, but we are equally focused on where we are going—building a stronger organization, expanding our capabilities, developing our people, and becoming a trusted long-term security partner for the clients and communities we serve.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road, but many of the challenges we have faced have played an important role in shaping Music City Protection into the company it is today.

One of our biggest challenges has been learning how to grow without compromising the quality of our services. In the security industry, growth means more than gaining new clients—it also means recruiting and retaining dependable officers, maintaining licensing and training requirements, managing unpredictable staffing needs, and ensuring that every officer representing our company meets the standards our clients expect.

We have also had to navigate the realities of operating a small business, including rising insurance and operating costs, changing industry requirements, managing cash flow, and making difficult decisions about which opportunities are truly the right fit for our company. There have been times when we have had to turn down business or restructure operations because protecting the reputation and long-term stability of the company was more important than simply growing revenue.

Another major lesson has been understanding the importance of strong systems and leadership. As we grew, we realized that processes that worked when we were smaller would not necessarily support the company we were becoming. That pushed us to improve our technology, policies, training, supervision, communication, and overall operational structure.

There have certainly been setbacks along the way, but each one has taught us something valuable. We have become more intentional about how we operate, who we partner with, and the type of company we want to build.

For us, success has never meant having a perfect journey. It has meant continuing to learn, adapt, and move forward while staying committed to providing professional and dependable security services.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Music City Protection is a Tennessee-based security company providing professional security services and training solutions for businesses, organizations, properties, events, and individuals. While our roots are in Middle Tennessee, our vision has always been bigger than simply providing an officer for a post. We want to be a trusted security partner that understands each client’s environment and develops solutions around their actual needs.

Our services include armed and unarmed security officers, event security, mobile patrol, fire watch, residential and commercial property security, executive protection, traffic and access control, and customized security coverage. Through **MCP Training**, we also provide professional and community safety education, including security officer training, firearms instruction, CPR/AED and First Aid, active-threat preparedness, and other safety-focused courses.

What sets Music City Protection apart is our emphasis on **customization, accountability, and relationships**. Security is not one-size-fits-all. We take the time to understand the client’s concerns, property, people, and expectations before determining what effective coverage should look like. From customized post orders and reporting requirements to officer selection and supervision, our goal is to create a security program that makes sense for that specific client.

We are also intentional about being accessible and responsive. As a locally owned company, our clients are not simply account numbers. They have direct access to our leadership team, and we remain actively involved in the services we provide. When something needs to change, we want to be able to respond quickly rather than allowing layers of corporate structure to slow down the solution.

Brand-wise, we are most proud that Music City Protection has grown while maintaining its identity. We started in 2018 and have continued building our reputation through relationships, referrals, repeat business, and the trust clients place in us. We have had opportunities to support everything from local businesses and residential communities to hotels, corporate clients, special events, and high-profile security details. Every assignment, regardless of size, represents our name and reputation.

We want readers to know that **Music City Protection is still growing, evolving, and raising our standards**. We are investing in our people, technology, training, operational systems, and client experience because our goal is not simply to become a bigger security company. Our goal is to become a better one.

At the end of the day, our brand represents **professionalism, preparedness, accountability, and protection with purpose**. We want our clients to know that when they choose Music City Protection, they are gaining a partner who takes their safety, property, people, and reputation seriously.

How do you define success?
For us, success is about more than revenue, growth, or the number of clients we serve. We define success by the **trust we build, the people we develop, and the impact we make**.

In the security industry, success can often be measured by what *doesn’t* happen—the incident that was prevented, the situation that was de-escalated, or the client who can focus on their business because they know their people and property are being protected. When a client continues to trust Music City Protection, refers us to someone else, or calls us again when they have a new need, that means a great deal to us.

Success also means creating opportunities for our team. We want Music City Protection to be a place where people can develop professionally, gain valuable training and experience, take on leadership responsibilities, and build meaningful careers in the security industry.

As business owners, we also believe success is having the ability to look back at where we started in 2018 and recognize the progress while still seeing how much opportunity lies ahead. Every challenge has taught us something, and every stage of growth has required us to become better leaders and business owners.

Ultimately, we define success as building something **sustainable, respected, and bigger than ourselves**—a company our clients trust, our employees are proud to represent, and our community recognizes for professionalism and service. If we can continue growing without losing the values and relationships that helped us get here, that is success to us.
