Rising Stars: Meet Jenny Jackson of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Jackson.

Hi Jenny, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story has never followed a straight line, and looking back, I think that is one of the things I love most about it. I’ve always been curious about people, places, cultures, fashion, luxury, storytelling, and creating experiences that make others feel special.

Travel has played an enormous role in shaping who I am. I have traveled to more than 87 countries and have had the opportunity to live in China, Austria, Italy, Dubai, London, Hawaii, New York City, Alaska, the Caribbean, and, my favorite, Tennessee.

Some of those experiences became incredible chapters of my life. I taught seventh grade while living in China, spent a summer living in Rome and immersing myself in everyday Roman life, and studied abroad at the University of Innsbruck in Austria. I also lived aboard a cruise ship for several months while traveling throughout Alaska and the Caribbean, and spent time living in London and Dubai while traveling extensively around the world. Being exposed to so many cultures, personalities, traditions, styles, and ways of life gave me a perspective that I carry into almost everything I do today.

I was born and raised in Jackson, Tennessee. I grew up not only picking watermelons and cantaloupes on my grandparents’ farm, but also selling the produce on the side of the road. That experience taught me the value of a dollar and how to interact with the public at a very young age.

I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Child Development and Family Studies and began my professional career as a Certified Child Life Specialist at Mount Sinai Children’s Hospital in New York City.

While living in New York, my career took an unexpected turn from the medical field into fashion. I had the opportunity to work with four iconic fashion houses and brands: Fendi, Jimmy Choo, Diane von Furstenberg, and Elie Tahari. Being surrounded by that level of creativity, style, craftsmanship, and luxury had a tremendous influence on me. New York taught me to work hard, think creatively, take chances, and appreciate the details that make an experience or a brand feel truly special.

I later found my way into the luxury automotive industry, working in marketing, branding, sales, and events with brands including Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, and Lotus. That world reinforced so much of what I had learned in fashion: the importance of relationships, presentation, attention to detail, and creating an experience someone remembers long after the moment has passed.

About ten years ago, Nashville called me home in a way I never expected. At the time, I was living in New York City and returned to Tennessee to help run my father’s campaign for the Tennessee State Senate. After he won the election, I fully expected to return to New York, but something had changed. I realized I was ready to come home. I stayed in Nashville, settled in Germantown, and have called it home ever since.

Most recently, I spent two and a half years working in the luxury jewelry industry. I loved being part of the meaningful moments in people’s lives, including engagements, weddings, anniversaries, milestones, and celebrations. That experience brought together so many things I have always loved, especially helping people celebrate the moments that matter most. I have also had opportunities in television, modeling, acting, and media, which gave me another way to connect with people and tell stories.

Now, I’m beginning another exciting chapter as I transition into real estate development with a local Nashville company. In some ways, it may seem like another unexpected turn, but to me, it feels like a natural continuation of everything that has come before it.

My personal life is also entering a very special new chapter. I met my fiancé, Paul, about two and a half years ago. We began dating eleven months ago, and now we are getting married at the end of August. We share two Yorkshire Terriers, Titan and Aston Martin. Life has a funny way of surprising you when you least expect it.

I would also say that who I am today has been shaped just as much by the challenging chapters as the glamorous and adventurous ones. I have learned a great deal about resilience, starting over, personal growth, and becoming intentional about the kind of woman I want to be and the kind of life I want to create, with all the credit going to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.

I’m incredibly grateful for every place I’ve lived, every person I’ve met, and every unexpected turn that brought me back to my roots. And I still believe some of the best chapters are yet to be written. I’m more excited than ever about what comes next.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road. I think from the outside, a life filled with travel, fashion, luxury brands, television, and exciting opportunities can look very glamorous, but there have also been plenty of difficult seasons behind the scenes.

One of my biggest challenges has been learning to be comfortable with change. My career has taken several unexpected turns, and there have been times when I had to completely reinvent myself, walk away from what was familiar, and trust that the next chapter would eventually make sense. Starting over is humbling, especially when you are used to being successful or having a clear sense of direction.

I have also faced personal seasons that challenged me emotionally and spiritually and forced me to take a closer look at who I was, what I valued, and what kind of life I wanted to create. Those seasons taught me that growth is not always pretty or comfortable. Sometimes it means letting go, asking for help, setting boundaries, and being willing to change.

I have learned that resilience is not about pretending everything is fine. It is about continuing to move forward, even when life looks very different from what you had planned.

My faith has been the foundation that has carried me through the most difficult chapters. Looking back, I can see that some of the seasons I once viewed as setbacks were actually set ups for something much grander than I could have ever imagined.

Today, I am much more comfortable with not having every answer. I have learned to trust God, trust the process, and remember that a difficult chapter does not have to define the entire story.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Throughout my career, my work has taken many different forms, but the common thread has always been people. Whether I was working in fashion, luxury automobiles, jewelry, media, or now stepping into real estate development, I have always been drawn to building relationships, understanding what people want, and creating an experience that feels personal and memorable.

I would say my specialty is connecting with people. I genuinely love getting to know someone, hearing their story, and finding ways to make them feel comfortable, valued, and understood. I think that ability has allowed me to move successfully between very different industries while still using many of the same skills.

Much of my career has been spent in the luxury world, where I learned that true luxury is not simply about a beautiful product or an expensive price tag. It is about how you make someone feel. Attention to detail, authenticity, trust, presentation, and exceptional service are what turn a transaction into a relationship. Those are lessons I have carried with me everywhere.

I am especially proud of the relationships I have built throughout my career. Jobs and titles change, but the people you meet and the way you treat them stay with you. Some of the relationships I formed professionally many years ago remain part of my life today, and I consider that one of my greatest accomplishments.

What sets me apart is probably the combination of those experiences. I bring a global perspective from traveling to more than 87 countries, a Southern upbringing that taught me the value of hard work and treating people well, and years of experience working with some of the most recognized luxury brands in the world.

I have learned that you do not have to fit perfectly into one box to be successful. Sometimes the experiences that seem completely unrelated at the time are actually preparing you for exactly where you are supposed to go next.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a little bit of everything. I was the middle child and the only girl between two brothers, so I learned pretty quickly how to hold my own! I have always been a girly girl at heart. I loved clothes, getting dressed up, and all things feminine but I had just as much of a tomboy side. I was never afraid to get dirty, compete, or try to keep up with the boys.

Sports were a huge part of my childhood. I played basketball and ran track and cross country, and I think being an athlete shaped a lot of my personality. It taught me discipline, determination, competitiveness, teamwork, and how to keep going even when something was difficult. I have always had a lot of energy and have never been very good at sitting still for too long!

Growing up in Jackson, Tennessee, also kept me grounded. Some of my favorite childhood memories are on my grandparents’ farm, picking watermelons and cantaloupes and then selling them on the side of the road. I could go from being dressed up and completely girly to working outside and getting my hands dirty without thinking twice about it.

Personality wise, I was outgoing, curious, independent, and adventurous. I loved meeting people and was always interested in what was happening beyond my little corner of Tennessee. Looking back now, I can see pieces of the woman I would become. The girly girl who eventually found her way into fashion and luxury, the people person who built a career around relationships, and the curious little girl from Tennessee who would eventually travel to more than 87 countries.
