Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest struggles has been staying consistent and motivated when things don’t always go the way you want. There have been times when I’ve questioned whether I was good enough or whether all the hard work would eventually pay off. But those moments have also pushed me to work harder, improve my skills, study different genre styles, and become more confident behind the decks.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As Sir DJ Corey, I see myself as more than just a DJ who plays music. I’m a versatile, open-format DJ with a strong passion for bringing different sounds together. I enjoy working across genres such as Hip-Hop, R&B, Afrobeats, Dancehall, Reggae, Soca, House, and commercial party music, depending on the event and the audience.
I’m known for my versatility, crowd interaction, song selection, and ability to keep people engaged. I believe a great DJ has to understand the people in front of them. Every crowd is different, so I don’t believe in relying on the same set every time. I adapt, take risks, and know when to build the energy, when to switch things up, and when to drop that record that gets everyone reacting.
What sets me apart from other DJs is my ability to combine technical skills with personality and crowd connection. I’m not interested in simply being the person behind the decks. For me, being Sir DJ Corey is about creating an experience people remember,
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think the most important quality behind my success is resilience. The DJ journey comes with highs and lows, and there have been plenty of times when things didn’t go according to plan. Most importantly, I have a genuine passion for music and entertaining people and that has kept me moving forward is my ability to stay focused, learn from every experience, and keep pushing myself to improve.
