Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin O’Connell.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I graduated from Arizona State University with a Design Studies degree. After college moved back to Overland Park where I worked with different clients who suffered with Traumatic Brain Injuries, during that time I started going to Mitsu Sato Hair Academy. I working for Mitsu at his salon for a few years, then got offered an assisting job for Vidal Sassoon where I soon learned I would rather do cut and color than specializing in just one.
While in Seattle, I went out on my own and started to booth rent and then rented a Studio space and created my brand Designs and Styles by Erin.
Moved to Nashville in 2022 moved around to a few different locations, but found my forever home located inside 1015 Studios in Nashville.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not always, I prefer to work for my self or sent a station on both. When moving to a new state some states are harder than others to meet new people and get new clients. It helps when you get a good group of clients the help refer clients.
Moving to Nashville from Seattle was a challenge because of the weather change and driving across country by my self.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have been doing hair since 2011. I am know for precision hair cutting, but I love doing hair extensions , Brazilian Blow outs and blonding services.
I think that I am most proud of being able to replicate one of the Sassoon hair cuts by just looking at one of his hair cutting ABC hair cutting books.
I think I am know for being able to do a really precise hair cut and all different kinds for bob hair cuts.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Born in Montana, grew up in Lawrence, Ks and Later moved to Kansas City, Mo.
I was very outgoing, was on a swim team that traveled all over, made friends threw swimming and was just a social butterfly.
