Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Kuhr Lee.
Hi Joshua Kuhr , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a self taught singer/songwriter and producer. I started with classical music learning Cello and moved on to learning other various instruments as I got older. Guitar is my main instrument of choice. I currently release music under my stage name Kuhr.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think any creative field has its ups and downs. Some struggles have been marketing. It’s hard to trust what can actually help you and what is just a scam and I find a lot of the industry is a big scam. Staying true to myself has always been my number one priority even if it doesn’t mean instant success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a multi instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and audio engineer. My speciality is my chord progression. I try to make unique progressions that aren’t as common in commercial music. I like to experiment a lot and try and make music that is different than other music. I don’t like following a formula when it comes to my song making process, however some patterns are followed when I deem it necessary. I am proud to be able to release my music whenever I can.
What matters most to you?
My music. I have a hard time collaborating when it comes to the music I release. I like to have a lot of the creative control from beginning to end. That’s not to say I don’t work with others, it is just uncommon for me.
