Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Clark.
Hi Ciara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been intrigued by the arts, whether it be drawing, painting, photography etc. Photography however has always been a constant creative outlet for me. It wasn’t until 2021 when I got my first paid photography gig at a summer camp. Ever since then I’ve been photographing local shows, events, and food.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Without the help of the community and networking it’s nearly impossible to have consistent work. You really need to put yourself out there and mingle. If nobody knows who you are how will they know how great, you and your work are? There will be times where financially this doesn’t make sense. I’ve struggled with managing my income from time to time. Some months are super busy and out of nowhere you’ll hit a dry spell. Always remember to set aside some funds during the busy months so you’re not scrambling when the busy season dies down a bit.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known mostly for event photography at local spots such as the 5 spot, blue room and more. I however also dabble in food photography and painting.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being open minded and friendly will always help you build relationships and keep them. You also need to be stern and direct don’t let people undercut you and convince you that your work is not worth what you are charging.
