Inspiring Conversations with Britney Jones of Bennett Beauty Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Jones.

Hi Britney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a cosmetologist for over a decade. I took a break to go to school for nursing & worked in healthcare for nearly a decade as well. The medical & hair industries are both passions of mine. I had no intention of getting into the hair loss industry but when family members started coming to me for answers, I had to figure it out. My vision for Bennett Beauty Solutions started out as an answer to the questions I was getting & it grew into a place for other black women dealing with hair loss, to come for answers & solutions. For the past few years, we have been serving women in Nashville & surrounding areas through our services, products, education, & support.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t! I have such big goals for Bennett Beauty Solutions that I had to learn to slow down & really understand what was happening & what to do when building a business. I was eager to start & just jumped out there but it has taught me a lot. Building a business comes with many ups & downs, pivoting moments, & things beyond your control. I would say learning when to redirect my focus & what to prioritize were my biggest obstacles.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Bennett Beauty Solutions?
Bennett Beauty Solutions is a beauty business that specializes in serving black women with hair loss. We offer services such as cranial prosthesis application, products from our private line designed for our clients, support on the hair loss journey, & education of the steps needed for restoration or aesthetic guidance. We have created a space where clients can come be in a private, comfortable setting, we work by appointment only to give optimal time & care to each client, & work with our clients to become true partners on their hair loss journey. We are most proud of how we empower our clients & restore confidence to these truly amazing women!

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I believe anyone who starts a business is a risk taker. There is no guarantee it will work but betting on yourself is always a risk….but worth it. As I mentioned before, I just jumped out there. I had no clients. I just went & leased a space & hit the ground running. I don’t advise that for everyone, but I had an idea of where I was trying to go & I wasn’t afraid to make changes. There were people who didn’t understand what I was doing or why, but I knew what I wanted so I stuck with it. Some of the risk cost me money, time, & mental exhaustion but once I refocused & made the right adjustments, it came together.
