Today we’d like to introduce you to Eastern Dreamers.
Hi Eastern, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2023 Evan DeNicola and I (Max Pachter) met at an open mic night. We both didn’t even get to play that night which we bonded over and Evan invited me to play with him at his local bar gig called Joes Place. I ended up coming every Wednesday and we would play each others songs, jam and harmonize, and occasionally have some others join. We then started writing songs together and our first song “Tightline” was written. A mix of that song being written and some crowd reactions when we played together led us to formally create the acoustic duo, Eastern Dreamers. We were playing a bunch of showcases and songwriter rounds so often and people wanted to hear our music so we recorded our live EP down in Franklin “Live at The Rock House.” We then got some opportunities to play some gigs that needed a band and ever since then, we’ve been building what you see now.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth seas have never built skilled sailors and we’ve learned to ride the waves. Alot of our roadblocks come from external factors and sometimes it feels like the world is out to get us and keep us down, whether it is shows getting cancelled, internal band issues, even just staying healthy and patient is sometimes the struggle. But we try to control anything we can by practicing hard and remaining patient and faithful that this is our journey.
One last difficulty was finding our scene here. We were trying to seek out audiences, a team, and opportunities and the we realized… Let’s just create our own scene.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are songwriters at heart. Our music is not meant for those looking for instant gratification but for people who are searching for something: answers, love, euphoria, whatever that may be. There is no agenda with our music and we want listeners to feel however they want about a song or lyric or sound.
One of the reasons we formally started the duo is our harmonies. People after our first gigs would say how our voices blended together very well and we felt that. Not to mention we both are guitar players at heart, which allows music to flow back and forth easily, creating the atmosphere we like to live in.
I’m proud that we have stayed true to ourselves and continue to lean into that notion more and more. Society does not stop telling you who to be and how to act and it is easily to lose sight of your goals and sometimes even who you are. But trusting and running with that weird feeling that you get in your belly is the how I find fulfillment and learn who I am.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The level of talent here is inspiring and makes us hone in our own craft.
