Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Hixson.
Hi Natalie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a mom of three daughters, and for years I was stuck in a cycle of destructive anger and burnout. I was yelling, screaming, slamming doors, and sometimes even throwing things. The rage would come out of nowhere and take over. I hated who I was becoming. I wanted so badly to be a fun, loving, present mom, but I felt completely trapped by my own reactions. I carried a lot of guilt and shame.
The turning point came when I took one of my kids to a therapist, thinking she was the problem. The therapist looked at me and said, “Your child is normal for her age. It’s you who needs help.” That hit hard, but it was exactly what I needed to hear. I finally realized the anger was coming from inside me, and I had to take responsibility for it.
I am a Christian, and I found strength in the Lord as He led me through a long, sometimes messy journey of healing. He helped me face the root issues, learn how to process anger in a healthy way, and start responding instead of reacting. Over time, the destructive outbursts became less frequent and less intense. Joy and connection began returning to our home.
As I walked through my own restoration, I felt a strong pull to help other moms who were stuck in the same place I had been. I became a Certified Professional Life Coach and started coaching moms specifically through destructive anger and burnout. I’ve now been doing this work for over eight years and have walked with hundreds of moms as they find freedom, rebuild relationships, and rediscover joy in motherhood.
Today I host the Motherhood Restored podcast, lead group coaching programs, and continue supporting moms who want to stop the cycle of rage and become the peaceful, present mothers they long to be. I also wrote a book, Lord, Why Did You Give Me These Children?! A Faith-Based Approach to Overcoming Mom Anger, which launches September 15, 2026.
My story isn’t about perfection. It’s about what can happen when we stop hiding the challenging parts and allow real healing and restoration to take place.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been a smooth road.
Even after I started the healing process, I still had moments where the old patterns showed up. I would slip back into yelling or shutting down, and then the guilt and shame would hit hard. Learning to take full responsibility for my reactions instead of blaming circumstances or my kids was one of the biggest struggles. It required a lot of honesty with myself and with the Lord.
There were also seasons where progress felt slow. Rebuilding trust with my family took time. My husband and kids had been on the receiving end of my anger for years, so they needed to see real, consistent change, not just good intentions. That meant practicing new responses over and over, even when I was tired or triggered.
Another challenge was learning how to process anger in a healthy way without stuffing it down or exploding. I had to develop new tools, stay consistent with time in prayer and self-awareness, and keep choosing to respond differently even when it felt unnatural at first.
Building the coaching business added another layer of challenge. The early years required a lot of work. I was still in the thick of my own healing and raising my kids while learning how to run a business from the ground up. Getting certified, figuring out how to find and serve clients, setting prices, creating programs, and developing the systems to support it all took time, trial, and a lot of persistence. There were seasons of slow growth, uncertainty, and the daily discipline of showing up even when results weren’t immediate. I had to keep learning, adjusting, and trusting the Lord to direct the work each day.
It has been a challenging journey with plenty of ups and downs, but those struggles are also what made the growth real. The road has not been easy, but it has been worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Natalie Hixson, CPLC – The Motherhood Restored Program?
I’m the founder of Motherhood Restored and I coach as the Angry Mama Coach. I specialize in helping moms overcome destructive anger and burnout so they can become the peaceful, present, and joyful wives and mothers they want to be.
I’m known for walking with moms through the real, messy side of mom rage. I don’t just talk about anger in theory. I lived it. I help women identify their triggers, process anger in healthy ways, break cycles of guilt and shame, and rebuild connection with their kids and husbands. My approach is practical and rooted in my own journey of healing.
What sets me apart is the combination of personal experience and focused coaching. I’ve spent over eight years specifically coaching moms through destructive anger, with hundreds of hours of one-on-one and group work. I bring both the lived understanding of what it feels like to be stuck in rage and the tools that actually help moms change. I also integrate faith, because I am a Christian and I found strength in the Lord throughout my own restoration. That foundation shapes how I coach, but the tools themselves are useful for any mom ready to do the work.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the real transformation that happens in the homes of the moms I work with. I hear from women who go from constant yelling and regret to responding with more calm, connection, and joy. Seeing relationships restored and moms finally enjoy motherhood again is what matters most to me.
What I want readers to know is that help is available and change is possible. Although I live in Bozeman, Montana, all of my coaching is virtual, so location is never a barrier. I actually have quite a few clients in Nashville and throughout Tennessee. My daughter also lives in Nashville, so I visit often. I offer group coaching programs like the 10-week Motherhood Restored program and shorter 30-Day Motherhood Reset groups. I also provide free tools, including the Trigger Tracker, and I host the Motherhood Restored podcast where I share practical guidance and stories of hope. My book, Lord, Why Did You Give Me These Children?! A Faith-Based Approach to Overcoming Mom Anger, launches September 15, 2026.
Whether a mom is just starting to notice her anger or has been stuck in the cycle for years, my work is about giving her the support, tools, and encouragement to move forward and restore peace in her home.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality that has been most important to my success is perseverance.
There were many seasons when progress felt slow, both in my personal healing and in building the coaching business. It would have been easy to quit or settle for “good enough.” What kept me moving forward was the decision to keep showing up and keep doing the hard inner work, even when I couldn’t see immediate results.
For me personally, my Christian faith has been a steady source of strength through those challenging seasons. At the same time, the practical habit of perseverance itself- choosing to continue, to learn, and to take the next step- has been essential. That consistency carried me through overcoming destructive anger, the early days of learning to coach and run a business, and the ongoing work of refining my programs and serving moms well.
Success for me has never been about a dollar amount, perfect conditions, or constant motivation. It has been about continuing to take the next step, again and again, while serving and helping my clients find the restoration and transformation they are deeply desiring. When a client says she is seeing herself stay calm, work through challenges productively with her family, and actually find joy again as a wife and mother, that is true success to me.
