Hi Delia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I look back, I realize that my business didn’t really start when I booked my first event. It started when I was a little girl with a cardboard box and an imagination.
Growing up, I loved Barbie houses, but instead of always having the perfect store-bought house, I would build my own out of cardboard boxes. I would create the rooms, arrange the furniture, decorate the little spaces, and turn something simple into something beautiful. At the time, I was just playing. I didn’t realize I was already discovering something I would carry with me for the rest of my life: I love creating beautiful spaces.
Years later, becoming a mom to four girls gave me countless reasons to keep creating. Birthdays and celebrations became my creative outlet. I decorated their parties, made centerpieces, reused things I already had, and found ways to transform simple and affordable materials into something special. I learned that beautiful celebrations don’t always have to come from buying everything new. Sometimes the most meaningful details are the ones you create yourself.
That same philosophy eventually inspired my YouTube channel, Simple Delia, where I share my love for decorating my home in a simple, beautiful, and affordable way.
My business journey began as a side hustle offering luxury picnics. I loved creating those intimate setups and watching an empty space transform once the tables, pillows, flowers, candles, and little details came together.
Eventually, I began working with balloons and expanding into larger celebrations. Balloons opened another creative door for me, but along the way, I realized where my heart has always been: the table.
I love designing a complete tablescape—the linens, plates, napkins, flowers, candles, centerpieces, textures, and all of the small details that make guests stop and look when they walk into a room. There is something incredibly satisfying about starting with an empty table and creating an experience around it.
Today, my business continues to grow and evolve, but the heart behind it is still the same little girl building Barbie houses out of cardboard boxes.
I still love taking something simple and seeing what it could become.
The difference is that now, instead of decorating tiny cardboard rooms, I’m creating spaces where people celebrate birthdays, babies, milestones, love, family, and some of life’s most unforgettable moments.
What started as imagination became a passion.
What started as a side hustle became a business.
And what started with a cardboard box became a dream I get to keep building.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggle is leaving my family home on the weekends because we are out working.

I’m most proud of turning something I truly love into a business and watching it grow little by little. I’m especially proud that my girls get to see me follow my passion, work hard, and build something of my own. My simple designs.
