Meet Lily Targett of New Jersey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lily Targett.

Lily, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I had an unconventional journey. When I was 17 I moved to LA to be an actor— I loved musical theater. I then proceeded to live there for 2 years, performing in numerous professional productions. I loved it! But I missed my family. I am the oldest of 6 kids and they are my everything. I still do theater, performing whenever I can! Now I found a passion seeking health insurance and helping people get coverage. It is so rewarding. Now I get to help those people, and still get to perform and be close to my family.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been BUMPY. There’s no handbook on life and which path is the right path. I feel like I’ve lived so many lives in the past 5-6 years. Leaving LA was a tough decision, and I do hope one day to make it back there— still doing insurance AND theater. But it took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do. I finally have my own place, bought a car, and have a loving boyfriend. Of course things aren’t close to perfect, but I am starting to see how my future will look like.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an individual insurance broker. I specialize in helping low income people navigate the marketplace, and access their needs to get the best plan for them and their family. It truly is rewarding. I have an exciting event coming up where I will have games for kids, and offer free advice to parents. The best thing about my company is we don’t charge a broker fee— so if anyone needs help we do not charge them. It makes me so happy helping others and making their lives a little easier.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My boyfriend, Jonathan, is my biggest role model. He is my heart, my soldier, my best friend, and such a caring man. He is so hard working— has a full time job and a full time student, and still makes all the time for me. He honestly is loved by anyone he meets. He lights up the room. I can not wait to see what big things will come to him, he deserves the world.
