Inspiring Conversations with Landon O’Bryan of O’BRYAN PERFORMANCE CHIROPRACTIC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Landon O’Bryan.

Hi Landon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out as a nursing school student but found that nursing was not my passion. I went and worked on my own landscaping business but felt drawn back to the medical field. I had been experiencing a lot of neck and low back pain but could not find relief through any method I tried. I had been to multiple chiropractors with no success. I was looking into applying for MD, DO, and PA school when a chiropractor I knew recommended I apply to be a chiropractor. I learned was skeptical because I felt like I could not be helped so I was not sure it would be worth the journey. I felt God call me to apply because I wanted to prove that I could help with the tougher cases like myself. I applied for the program and the following day was accepted. I told my wife that we were moving to kentucky in the next two months and we never looked back. I rehabbed and fixed my neck and low back pain myself and learned many different methods and techniques for treating not only neck and low back pain but many other issues as well. While I was in school I learned that the scope of practice for a chiropractor is so much larger than many people think. I love to help people through all walks of life and to provide more than just temporary pain loss but a way to help improve the quality of life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. The trip to Kentucky was very rocky with a lot of set backs and growing along the way. We moved into a house that was not fully built and lived paycheck to paycheck to make things work while I was in school full time. During my residency I dealt with difficult preceptors who spoke poorly of me in front of patients when I was not around. I had looked into job opportunities and there were none so I felt that God had decided for me to open my own practice and try to provide the greatest service to my patients possible. Opening your own practice is a very big commitment.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a licensed chiropractor for the state of Tennessee. I specialize in athletic rehabilitation and pain management. I take an individualized approach with my patients to ensure that their needs are heard, and rather than focusing on temporary relief, my goal is to improve how their body moves and their long-term functional health. To achieve this, I use a combination of chiropractic manipulations and muscle work, including ART (Active Release Technique). I then send you home with corrective rehabilitation exercises that you can do at home, or we can work on them in the office. I currently work out of a gym and have access to a lot of rehab equipment. I take an individualized approach to each patient, treat what is bothering them, and try to take them beyond where they were in the past. I am most proud of and what sets me apart (as my patients have told me): I am thorough and truly listen, and I don’t treat them like a number. I’m also proud about how much I care about really getting people better. I want people to know that I offer specialized treatments that are growing and evolving rapidly as my brand grows. I offer needling, cupping, scraping, ART, rehab exercises, and nutritional counseling. I also have partnered with a pharmacy to get people peptides the safe and tested route.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think risk take is part of life, I took a risk going to school in another state on very short notice when my wife and I had steady incomes. I do think that taking a risk should be prepared for and prayed about. I also believe if you are feeling called to take the risk then you should do it. I took the risk of opening my own practice and am being rewarded every day. I listen to God when he tells me what to do and have made wonderful connections and outstanding growth in a very short amount of time. Safe can be easy but a risk can be very rewarding.
