Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Williamson.
Hi Michael, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Sail On grew out of the individual members’ shared interest in the classic pop of the 1950s and 60s era. We were working together in Nashville on original music that was heavily influenced by The Beach Boys when we developed the idea for the tribute band. Sail On will be 10 years old officially in 2027 and over the last decade we’ve had the opportunity to play across the USA in all kinds of venues to tens of thousands of people.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The fundamental challenge was in the material itself – it’s a very daunting task to faithfully and authentically represent the compositional and arranging genius of Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys in a live setting. It was definitely a growing process of becoming proficient at delivering a show that we felt was worthy of the material and the audiences’ love for it.
As you know, we’re big fans of Sail On The Beach Boys Tribute . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The realm of the music business that is occupied by tribute artists is unique in that it exists to bring the music of beloved heritage/legacy artists to audiences that might not otherwise get the opportunity to experience it live for a variety of reasons. There is a great responsibility for the tribute artist to do justice to the legacy and material of the original artist. Sail On has always been completely dedicated to doing exactly that at the highest level that we possibly can because of our love and respect for the original material and the fans that have treasured it deeply for many, many years. We have poured a great deal of hard work into the craft of producing a show that we feel is worthy of the material and the audience and we have always brought that commitment to the stage and we continue to deliver with consistency as our ultimate objective.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We are present on social media via Instagram and Facebook or people can go straight to the band website. We negotiate pricing on an individual basis depending on factors such as distance to Nashville, type of venue, etc.
