Today we’d like to introduce you to Brendan Burke.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Every podcast has a beginning. For the Christian Music Bros Podcast, it started with two guys who simply loved Christian music and wanted a place to talk about it.
I, Brendan Burke and Bradden Ford, started the podcast with a pretty simple idea: talk about Christian music the way you would talk about it with your friends.
It wasn’t about trying to create the biggest podcast in Christian music. It wasn’t about having a huge production or knowing every artist in the industry. It was about having conversations, asking questions, discovering new artists, and creating a place where people who love Christian music could come together.
What started as an idea between two friends slowly became something much bigger.
The podcast began focusing heavily on interviews, giving Christian artists an opportunity to share their stories, their music, and what God was doing in their lives. Over time, those conversations opened doors to some incredible guests and experiences.
The Christian Music Bros have had conversations with artists such as Jeremy Rosado, Seph Schluetter, Micah Tyler, Stephen Stanley, Cade Thompson, Consumed By Fire, We Are Vessel, Tommee Profitt, Trevor McNevan, and many others.
One of the biggest moments came when the podcast was able to make it into the K-LOVE Press Room, giving Brendan an opportunity to experience the Christian music industry from a completely different perspective.
But the podcast didn’t stay the same.
As the community grew, so did the vision.
Christian Music Bros evolved beyond simply interviewing artists. The show became a place to talk about albums, artist discographies, tours, new releases, playlists, Christian music history, artist drafts, festivals, predictions, and everything else that makes the Christian music world so fun.
Eventually, the Christian Music Bros family grew even more, with Eddie joining the team and bringing another personality and perspective to the show.
Through all of the changes, one thing has stayed the same: the love for Christian music and the people behind it.
I always wanted the podcast to feel like a safe place — somewhere you can come for the music, stay for the conversations, laugh a little, discover an artist you haven’t heard before, and maybe walk away encouraged.
And that’s really what Christian Music Bros is all about.
It’s not about being perfect.
It’s about loving music, loving people, having honest conversations, and most importantly, pointing people toward Jesus.
From an idea, to a growing community of listeners, artists, guests, and friends, the story of the Christian Music Bros Podcast is still being written.
And honestly?
We’re just getting started.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
Like anything worth building, the Christian Music Bros Podcast has gone through its share of ups and downs. One of the biggest challenges came when Bradden decided to leave the podcast. After starting the journey together, having a co-host step away was difficult, and it left me with a decision: either let the podcast end or keep moving forward.
I chose to keep going.
For a while, I went solo handling the podcast on his own and figuring out what the show could look like without the person who had been there from the beginning. It wasn’t always easy. There were moments of uncertainty, figuring out how to keep producing content, finding guests, and continuing to grow while doing much of the work myself.
There were also the normal struggles that come with running a podcast — finding time, balancing the podcast with work and life, trying to grow an audience, dealing with episodes that didn’t perform the way we hoped, and constantly figuring out what content people actually wanted to hear.
But those struggles ended up shaping the podcast.
Going through that season forced me to grow, become more confident, and figure out what Christian Music Bros really was. It became less about who was sitting behind the microphone and more about the mission of creating a place for people to enjoy Christian music and hear from the artists who make it.
Eventually, the podcast continued to evolve, bringing new people into the Christian Music Bros family and expanding beyond just traditional interviews.
Looking back, the difficult seasons were actually some of the most important.
The podcast didn’t grow because everything went perfectly. It grew because when things got difficult, I decided not to quit
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the host of the Christian Music Bros Podcast, a podcast dedicated to Christian music, the artists behind it, and the stories that make this community so special. What started as a simple idea to talk about Christian music has grown into something that allows me to interview artists, talk about albums and new releases, discuss tours and festivals, create playlists, make predictions, and just have fun talking about a genre of music that I’m incredibly passionate about.
I’m probably best known for my love of Christian music and for being someone who genuinely enjoys discovering and talking about artists, whether they’re huge names in the industry or independent artists who are just getting started. I’ve had the opportunity to talk with some incredible people and experience things like being in the K-LOVE Press Room, which are moments I’m extremely proud of.
What I’m most proud of, though, is that I kept going. The podcast has had its challenges, including when my original co-host, Bradden, left and I went solo for a period of time. There were plenty of moments where I could have decided it was too much work or that the podcast wasn’t going anywhere. Instead, I kept building it, learning, adapting, and figuring out what Christian Music Bros could become.
I think what sets me apart is that I’m not trying to pretend I know everything about Christian music. I’m a fan first. I genuinely love the music, I love meeting the people behind it, and I want the podcast to feel like a conversation between friends rather than a formal interview.
At the end of the day, I want Christian Music Bros to be a place where people can discover new music, hear artists’ stories, laugh, have honest conversations, and feel welcome. I’m proud of how far it has come, but I’m even more excited about where it can go next.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest piece of advice for anyone just starting out is don’t wait until everything is perfect. Just start. I spent a lot of time early on trying to figure out what the podcast should be, what it should look like, and how to make everything perfect. But you learn so much more by actually doing it.
I’d also say don’t be afraid to change. Christian Music Bros has gone through a lot of changes since it started. What the podcast is today looks different from what it was in the beginning, and that’s a good thing. Some of the things I thought would work didn’t, and that’s okay. You have to be willing to try things, learn from them, and move forward.
Another big thing is don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. There are going to be podcasts, businesses, or creators who have thousands or millions of followers while you’re just getting started. That can be discouraging, but everybody starts somewhere. Focus on making your next episode, post, or project better than the last one.
I also wish I understood earlier that relationships are just as important as numbers. Some of the coolest opportunities I’ve had came from simply meeting people, reaching out, starting conversations, and genuinely caring about the people I was talking to. You never know which relationship might lead to your next opportunity.
Most importantly, don’t quit just because things aren’t happening as quickly as you hoped. There have definitely been times when I wondered if Christian Music Bros was going anywhere. But continuing to show up made all the difference.
If I could go back and tell myself one thing when I was starting, it would be: enjoy the journey. Don’t spend so much time worrying about where you’re going that you forget to appreciate where you are.
