Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey London.
Hi Kelsey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ever since I can remember, standing out has been at the core of who I am. For a long time, I viewed that as a flaw because of how people responded to my personality, creativity, and the light I carried. Growing up, I knew there was something in me that was meant to shine, but I didn’t always feel confident enough to let it.
As I’ve gotten older, healed from past experiences, and allowed God to reveal more of who I am in Him, I’ve learned to embrace that light instead of shrinking it.
I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, a city that I love deeply. But as I entered adulthood, God began revealing that Memphis was part of my foundation, not necessarily the place where I would fully develop into the woman I had prayed to become. That realization opened me up to new environments, experiences, and opportunities.
I started creating content during my sophomore year of college at an HBCU, Tennessee State University. Initially, I was simply documenting my memories, but I quickly realized that content was another way for me to express myself creatively. I’ve always been naturally creative, my friends joke and ask, “What is it that you can’t do?” and that creativity naturally translated into fashion, photography, storytelling, and eventually digital content.
Being at an HBCU also gave me an environment where fashion and self-expression were celebrated. I was constantly getting compliments on my outfits and encouragement from my friends to take pictures and share my style. As God placed people in my life who saw things in me that I couldn’t yet see in myself, my confidence grew. I learned to genuinely love who I was, while also being honest about the areas where I was still growing.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, I became even more intentional about creating. Around graduation, I was also asking God what was next for me. My path to pharmacy wasn’t linear—I had gone from wanting to become a doctor, to telling God I didn’t want to be a doctor at all, to simply wanting to graduate and figure out how to get paid. Then one day, I felt God clearly leading me toward pharmacy school. Despite knowing the time,
commitment, and sacrifice it would require, I felt an unexpected sense of peace about the decision.
Today, I’m bringing my creativity into every space I occupy, from pharmacy school and my professional life to social media and content creation. I’m learning not to gatekeep my personality, my ideas, or the talents God has given me. What started as a way to document my life has grown into a way for me to connect, inspire, create, and hopefully bring value and light to other people.
I’m still becoming, but I’m finally allowing myself to be seen while I do it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. In many ways, the person people see today was shaped through some of the hardest seasons of my life.
A lot of that began with COVID, which disrupted so much of what I thought my life would look like. A year later, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I also experienced family issues and a five-year battle with depression. There were seasons where, from the outside, people probably looked at my life and thought, “I love her life.” But internally, I was carrying things that very few people knew about.
I often felt alone, even when I wasn’t physically alone. I was trying to navigate school, family, my own emotions, and figuring out who I was becoming while also learning how to keep going. There were moments when I didn’t understand why I was going through certain things, but those seasons forced me to lean on God in a way that I never had before.
That’s also where a lot of the story I shared earlier comes in. I’ve had to learn how to stop shrinking myself, heal from what I’ve experienced, and allow God to reveal who I am in Him. The confidence and light people see in me today didn’t appear overnight. It was built through healing, faith, community, and choosing to keep becoming even when I didn’t feel like myself.
Now, when I look at my life, I see so much evidence of God’s faithfulness. I’m continuously walking in blessing, healing, and love, and I know that I didn’t get here by myself. God has been my refuge and has supplied my needs mentally,
emotionally, spiritually, and financially in ways I couldn’t have orchestrated on my own.
So no, the road hasn’t been easy, but I think that’s part of what makes where I am today so meaningful. I’m not creating from a place of having everything figured out. I’m creating from a place of becoming. I’m learning to embrace my personality, my creativity, my story, and the light God gave me without feeling the need to hide any of it.
I’m still becoming the woman I prayed to be, but now I can look back and see that even the difficult seasons were shaping me into her.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work sits at the intersection of creativity, storytelling, fashion, lifestyle, and pharmacy. I’m a PharmD student, content creator, and creative who uses social media as a space to document my life, explore different parts of who I am, and encourage other people to embrace the things that make them different.
A lot of my content centers around fashion, beauty, lifestyle, pharmacy school, and the realities of becoming an adult and figuring yourself out along the way. I’m known for bringing my personality into everything I create. Whether I’m sharing an outfit, documenting a day in pharmacy school, creating a brand partnership, or talking about something I’m navigating in life, I want people to feel like they’re experiencing it with me rather than simply watching another piece of content.
One of the things I’m most proud of right now is my recent series leading up to my 25th birthday. Turning 25 has given me an opportunity to intentionally document a season of life that so many people experience but don’t always
openly talk about; the transition from your early twenties into adulthood, figuring out who you are, letting go of old versions of yourself, changing friendships and priorities, learning to be comfortable alone, navigating career and purpose, and realizing that becoming the person you want to be is a process.
Through this series, I’m shining a light on the conversations that often get reduced to a passing comment but rarely get explored honestly. I’m not presenting myself as someone who has everything figured out. I’m documenting what it actually looks like to grow, question yourself, evolve, heal, and intentionally build a life that feels more aligned with who you’re becoming. I think there is power in making those conversations visible and reminding people that they aren’t the only ones experiencing them.
I’m also proud that I’ve allowed myself to explore multiple sides of my creativity instead of putting myself into one box. I have a background in chemistry, I’m pursuing my PharmD, I love fashion and beauty, I create digital content, and I’m passionate about photography, storytelling, and bringing ideas to life. For a long time, I thought I had to choose one thing to be taken seriously. Now, I see all of those parts of me as pieces of the same person.
What sets me apart is that I’m not afraid to be multidimensional. I’m a Black woman in pharmacy school, but I don’t want my identity to be limited to being a pharmacy student. I can be serious about my career while loving fashion, being creative, being funny, documenting my life, and figuring out adulthood in real time. I want to show that pursuing a professional career doesn’t mean you have to lose the personality, creativity, and individuality that make you who you are.
Ultimately, I think what makes my work meaningful is that I’m not trying to create a perfect version of life. I’m documenting the process of becoming. I’m bringing my creativity into every space I enter, creating conversations around the things people often experience quietly, and using the talents God gave me to bring value, light, and a little personality wherever I can.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My biggest advice when it comes to finding a mentor or networking is to allow God to lead you, but also be willing to take chances. Sometimes the opportunity or connection you’re praying for is on the other side of simply being willing to be in the room.
Put yourself in spaces where you may not know anyone. Go to the event. Introduce yourself. Ask the question. Send the email. Follow up. Allow yourself to be seen. I’ve learned that valuable connections don’t always come from intentionally looking for a “mentor.” Sometimes they come from genuine conversations and being open to learning from the people God places in your path.
I also think it’s important not to let fear or even your own perception of yourself hold you back. You can convince yourself that you’re not qualified enough, experienced enough, or important enough to approach someone, when in reality, you may be exactly the person they’re meant to meet. You never know what one conversation, introduction, or opportunity could lead to.
And honestly, this is something I’m still learning myself. I’ve had to recognize the ways I can hold myself back by overthinking, being afraid to take the first step, or waiting until I feel completely ready. I’m learning that sometimes you have to move before you feel ready and trust that God will order your steps along the way.
So my advice would be: pray about it, take the chance, be in the room, and don’t let fear make the decision for you. You don’t have to know exactly where a connection will lead. Sometimes you just have to be willing to open the door.
