Today we’d like to introduce you to Towne Bidez.
Hi Towne, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In some ways, I feel like this practice found me. I’d originally set out with dream in the creative arts world – as designer – the healing arts were not on my radar. I studied art, fashion, interior design, and trend forecasting. The goal was always to create garments and environments that offer comfort, beauty and functionality.
In a way, energy healing, and The Alchemy Room maintain those pillars. Those things are not just the foundation of all of my work, but they are the threads woven through all I do.
There have been a few distinct phases and experiences so far in my life that have given me the opportunity to go further into the exploration of creativity, mindfulness, nature, mysticism, and complimentary health from the perspective of a seeker than I ever expected – even for someone always intrigued by those things.
As an experiencer first, I started receiving Reiki, practicing yoga and meditation, and seeing functional/complimentary healthcare as a baseline for understanding my body and emotional landscape holistically. I was experiencing anxiety and pain and just wasn’t finding quality care with the allopathic options.
I was also going through the portal of early motherhood at the same time, which I believe absolutely heightened all my natural senses and intuition. I wanted to see if I could become attuned enough to use energy work on myself.
Weaving the threads of energy healing modalities across cultures, mystery school teachings, philosophy, astrology, Jungian psychology, functional healthcare models protocols, somatic wellness, and conscious design principals together with my own wellness journey truly informs the work that is done in The Alchemy Room today.
I like my ‘woo-woo’ with research, principals, plenty of anecdotal evidence and scientific interest. And for it to be offered ethically and safely.
With years of my own healing work underway, I was attuned as a Reiki Master in 2019, and felt confident in that was the direction to move into, professionally.
While offering design and operations support for another wellness space in Nashville, I recognized an opportunity to create one for my practice, too, and opened the first iteration of the Alchemy Room in Nashville in 2021. The studio has moved once (still in Nashville!), and the practice has evolved so much since then.
Currently The Alchemy Room serves beautifully as a container for everything from deep work like trauma and grief support/nervous system care, and pain processing, to light, and energizing sessions for relaxation and restoration.
Sessions range in scope, but all combine elements of Reiki, SourcePoint Therapy®, intuitive messages, and integration guidance.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Born out of necessity while mixed with some divine inspiration, maybe; The Alchemy Room was totally bootstrapped, built, dissolved and re-imagined while I was experiencing the most stressful transitions of my life. This has not been the smoothest road, but this practice was born out of difficult times, in a lot of ways.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I interchangeably refer to this work as the healing arts and/or energy medicine. Both feel right to me because the range of the work. Reiki and SourcePoint Therapy® are relaxing and restorative, and also compliment traditional medicine with proposed benefits including reduction of pain, anxiety and fatigue and also support nervous system function.
In this practice, my speciality is what I call The Alchemy Session. It is an intuitively guided energy medicine session that combines elements of Reiki, SourcePoint Therapy®, intuitive messages, and integration guidance. They can be scheduled for anywhere from 30 min for a quick session, all the way up to 2 hours for a more dedicated time.
Something that sets this work apart is that the variety of my lived experiences bringing a sense of awareness and solidarity into each interaction. I do not shy away from reflecting empathy and understanding on tough subjects like relational trauma, creative processing, mental or physical health insights, and I am trauma informed.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
To trust my intuition, and judgement while exercising discretion. I gave away a lot of personal power and agency to someone I was in partnership with for a long time, not realizing it was impeding my professional path, my financial well-being, and my physical and mental health. It took a lot of hard-won realizations and lessons to learn how to trust those tools again, and to learn how integral they were to my well-being.
