Hidden Gems: Meet Brian Emmel of Grand Staff Music School

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Emmel.

Hi Brian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a passion to play music. After getting guitar lessons at a young age, I got good enough to play in local bands. As I got more and more into music, I wanted to keep aspiring to my heroes. This lead to getting schooled in music, which took me to Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, CA. After my schooling, I got a book publishing deal for writing music instructional books and DVDs. This all leads to a teaching career ultimately. I moved to Nashville, TN in 2003 and taught from local music stores. In 2008, I opened my own music teaching studio in Franklin, TN.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road was unknown and scary! But, as I stepped out little by little, my business began to grow by word of mouth. And having a great staff of teachers who are great with kids truly helped. Grand Staff Music School grew steadily since 2008.
