Inspiring Conversations with Kat Eckles of Freecoat Nails

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Eckles.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My husband and I started a company called clean juice in 2015. Where an all-organic juice bar with 125+ locations nationwide (including a few in Nashville!). Last year we were presented the opportunity to acquire a non-toxic nail salon which we’ve since rebranded to freecoat nails. This concept fits beautifully in our mission of offering products that are better for you and offer traditional services in a new and modern wellness-based atmosphere.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road! 🙂 taking over a business presents its own set of challenges. Employees are used to one set of owners and managers and that sudden change can be too much for some people which is totally understandable. It’s also been a challenge to educate customers on why we are different and why non-toxic matters in the nail and beauty industry. I think we are just on the tip of the iceberg with people beginning to understand the importance of making wellness holistic in every part of your life. It was also a different experience for us because our last brand we built from the ground up and this brand we acquired so we had to build a bond with something that was already alive vs birthing something. We have loved every part of it; it has just been a different experience for us!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We offer nontoxic nails, waxing and more offerings coming soon! all of our polishes and gels are free of many of the harmful chemicals that traditional salons use. We currently have five locations open or in development and are franchising so growing quickly!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
We run podcast called be organic which is awesome! We have incredible guests join us weekly sharing their knowledge about many different wellness topics. I also am an avid bible reader… helps guide me every day!
