Conversations with Angela Lanter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Lanter.

Angela, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I worked as a fraud investigator in Los Angeles, CA and really enjoyed my job, but my passion has always been a beauty. I started a blog in 2012 for fun and found a new hobby I loved.

In 2013, I married the love of my life. Immediately after our wedding, my husband, actor Matt Lanter, booked a new job and was moving to New Orleans. We decided that I would quit my job and pursue my blog full-time. That same year, I won the Popsugar Blogger of the Year award. In September 2013, I launched my YouTube channel and dove headfirst into the unknown world of blogging and YouTubing.

In 2017, we found out we were expecting our daughter, MacKenlee, and launched our podcast, Hello Baby Podcast, which chronicled our pregnancy and parenthood journey. Hello, Baby debuted at #1 on the Friends and Family chart on iTunes.

In 2019, we decided that we wanted to make a big change for our family and moved from LA to Nashville, and it was the best decision ever. We absolutely love our life in Tennessee and several members of our family have since followed us here.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road. Anytime you take a step into the unknown, there will be unforeseen obstacles that pop up. When I started my career in 2012, blogging was so new, it was basically the wild, wild West. There were no rules. Luckily, I had people in my corner who helped guide my career early on and I got professional representation in 2014. It was the best career move I’ve made, having the proper people in my corner.

Blogging, YouTube and social media have evolved so much since I started my career and the market is now so saturated that it all looks dramatically different than when I began.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a lifestyle blogger and YouTuber with a heavy focus on beauty and fashion. What sets me apart from others in my field is I am Hollywood adjacent. Being married to an actor made my life turn out differently than I ever imagined it would. Not to mention, different than any of my peers. We move our family wherever my husband’s job takes him, which makes for a big adventure but also complicates creating stability in our lives.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband is not only my partner in life but my partner in all things. He shoots and edits my photos and videos and also co-hosts our parenting podcast, Hello Baby.

My mom is our full-time nanny and helps with any assistance I need for Hello Gorgeous. My cousin, Jenn, is my personal assistant. She helps keep everything running smoothly and is my sounding board for any and all crazy ideas I have.
