Daily Inspiration: Meet Robin Seay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Seay.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was working a job in accounts receivable, making $13/hr and no potential for advancement or growth. I did not feel like I was making a positive impact in people’s life and eventually got to the point where I felt I needed to make a change. I needed something where I could fulfill my servant heart, make a positive impact on others, and give back, which led me to researching real estate school. I enrolled in T.R.E.E.S for my affiliate broker license. At the time, I was training for my 1st and only bodybuilding competition as an NPC bikini competitor, which required several hours in the gym, working full time, and then added real estate school at night to my already hectic schedule. I would get up at 4am to get to the gym for an hour fasted cardio, run home and get ready for work, work 8-4:30pm, head to Nashville for real estate class 6-10pm, go back to Murfreesboro to do the weight lifting part of my workout 11-1am most nights, then do it over again the next day. This intense schedule went on for a few months. I received my license May 5th, 2015, competed in my competition Nov. 7th, 2015, and worked my real estate business and full-time job until January of 2017.

I wanted to quit my job so bad, but as a single female, barely making ends meet as it was, I was terrified to quit a full-time job with consistent pay and benefits to pursue something that was 100% commission based, with student loans, a car payment, credit card debt, and rent due monthly…What if I failed!?

I took a leap of faith and decided to put in my two weeks notice. January 13th was my last day at a job that provided me with a small sense of security for the last three years. January 14th, I was officially self-employed with nothing in my pipeline for closings! Through lots of praying, mentoring, and hard work, I am now a successful, full-time realtor! I have officially paid off all of my debt, bought my 1st house, and currently buying my 1st investment property, extremely involved in my community, and overall I am happy!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but it has all been worth it and taught me so much along the way! My 1st year after quitting my job to pursue my real estate career, I racked up a lot of credit card debt to keep myself afloat. There were consecutive months where my pipeline were dry with no sight of a closing or strong lead ahead. There were endless nights I laid awake wondering if I made a big mistake and questioning whether or not I would make it in this industry.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Through my role as a real estate agent at Parks Realty, I display a strong passion and love for serving others. I learned early on that each family I am afforded the opportunity to help is unique in their own way and with this understanding, I work to provide a custom experience for my diverse clientele. My expertise includes New construction, listing and creating a stress-free experience for first-time home buyers. I pride myself for my attention to detail, communication and my professionalism.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I owe a lot to my mentor Bobby Smith! Not only did Bobby take me under his wing from day 1 and guide me on how to be a trusting, knowledgeable, and resourceful agent, he also introduced me to his mentor, Bud George. Now, as a member of The Bud George team with Bobby and nine other amazing agents, I am constantly surrounded by knowledge, motivation, and well-rounded people. I also believe my friend Ben Williams deserves credit. Ben has supported, encouraged, and cheered me on from the moment he found out I was starting real estate. I owe credit to my best friend Bousavanh for ultimately creating my brand. People know me for my hashtag #closingdealsinheals which Bous created a few years ago when making me a sold sign for closings.

Casey Rainey, Francela and Chase Salas have all three planned a major role in getting me plugged into my community. Because of these three and the potential they saw at me, I have served on the Murfreesboro Young Professionals board for six years now, as well as been the President of this organization, currently serve on the United Way Board, and participate in several other non-profit and community organizations in the Rutherford County area, such as The Chamber, Center for the Arts, and Second Harvest Food Bank to name a few.
