Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Molina.
Hi Ana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Mexico and moved to Los Angeles in 2014 to pursue a career in Graphic Design. I started my social media journey in 2017 as a hobby when I was a college student. After graduating, I got a full-time job as a Social Media Manager. Which gave me extensive experience with how to best manage a digital community. In late 2020 I was finally able to fulfill my longtime dream of becoming a full-time content creator.
I have a YouTube video here that explains my story a little more: https://youtu.be/ioWfBCDsPD8
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not really. Quite the opposite. As an immigrant, following my dream job and dream career was hard because in order for me to be able to legally reside in the US, I had to be tied to an office job that sponsored my work visa. This meant I couldn’t just quit my 9-5 to fulfill my dreams. So I stayed there for three years. Until I was able to leave and pursue my career as a Youtuber in late 2020.
Social Media and the Influencer community (in the US) is one that is definitely not as easy or as fast to take off as a career when you are someone who is diverse. In my case, Hispanic. And there has definitely been challenges along the way with brands and growth, etc. but that hasn’t stopped me. Because I want to be able to “make it” so I can prove and inspire other fellow Latinas in the US chasing after big dreams like me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a content creator. My main platform is YouTube where I post lifestyle vlogs from my everyday life, doing things around town, etc. And I also include some fashion content such as hauls, styling, outfit ideas, come shopping with me, etc. I think what sets me apart is that I am a Latina that was actually born and raised in Mexico, living in Nashville. I am always really honest with my content and I have opened up about my mental health struggles.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think of myself as someone who would not take risks but looking back at my life, it seems like I actually am. I took a leap of faith and moved to the US when I was 21, English was not my first language yet I was able to establish myself in the city of Los Angeles. Seven years later, I took another leap of faith with my husband and moved to Nashville without knowing anyone and lastly, I took a leap of faith of leaving my 9-5 to pursue Social Media full time.
