Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Mizwinski.
Hi Mike, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in a musical family and began playing guitar at age 7. My parents met in music school and my Dad played in some really great local bands. I started playing bar gigs at 15 and continued to pursue music as a full-time career throughout my life.
Between the years of 2010-2020, I performed over 200 shows a year and has had the privilege to open for Jason Isbell, Jakob Dylan, Blues Traveler, Derek Trucks, America, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Lukas Nelson, Shawn Colvin, Leon Russell, Chris Isaak, Peter Wolf, Southside Johnny, and the Asbury Jukes, Jackie Greene, Railroad Earth. I recently signed a deal with Electric 3 records and my single “Virginia” was featured in Rolling Stone. I currently reside in Nashville TN and am working on my third album.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. I was side-lined by a 15-year addiction to opiates and finally was able to get sober in 2016. There have been many lessons learned and miles traveled but it’s all been worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer-songwriter; my music is best described as Americana/Rock N Roll. I’m most proud of the fact that I have been able to work full-time as a musician for most of my life.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Playing in front of 1,400 people with my cousin Lea when I was 12 years old.
