Exploring Life & Business with Trish Ware of Labor Nurse Mama

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trish Ware.

Hi Trish, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
For as long as I could remember, I wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse. I attended nursing school while raising my family and worked very hard to graduate top of my class. I became a labor nurse and was so excited to begin my career. However, I was quickly saddened by how birth was unfolding. I was disheartened by the lack of birth education that focused on the natural process of birth. Childbirth was treated as a medical procedure, and women were expected to follow the flow set by the medical side and not by their bodies. I was sad to see women coerced into interventions and other choices that they were not prepared to make for themselves. In 2017, I began to educate online through my blog. It quickly took off, yet I was not connecting with my audience in the way I envisioned. In 2019, I started educating on Instagram, and it exploded. I found that as passionate as I was to empower women, they were equally passionate about being empowered to own their births.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a long journey: many sleepless nights and early mornings. I worked as a bedside nurse and full time on my business; it was exhausting, but I loved it. My students and readers know that I care, and I am there for them in a way that many online educators/influencers are not. The most difficult part of the journey has been maintaining my commitment to answer all messages and comments. I would spend hours daily communicating and comforting mamas all over the world. I’m thankful to have a team of mamas, labor nurses, and a baby nurse to help connect to my audience and readers.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a labor and delivery nurse who is now an online birth educator and coach. I have several online classes to educate and prepare families for birth, postpartum, and a newborn. I also have an online shop where we handcraft labor and delivery gowns, swaddle, and multi-purpose covers for the modern mama. My students refer to me as their virtual labor nurse. I teach women all over the world to own their birth. I am passionate about empowering women to make informed decisions for their birth stories. Along with online self-paced courses, I offer one on one birth planning consultations. During a birth consult, we discuss fears, questions and create a simple birth plan. My commitment to my students in my online birth courses sets me apart from other childbirth classes. My students are coached and supported in a truly unique way. We have a private community where they have access to other moms, labor nurses, and a baby nurse.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I want to say this to my pregnant mamas out there. You are powerful. Your body is capable. You are the center of your birth; remember that education is power and enables you to make informed decisions that are safe for both you and your baby.
