Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Wimsatt.
Hi Jacob, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up on a farm in Western Kentucky. After developing a strong work ethic, working for years in the tobacco fields, I found myself willing to take a different path regardless of the obstacles.
As a boy, I was always interested in both art and science and found joy in creating things. While working on the farm taught me everything from mechanics to construction, I spent my free time creating worlds in sandbox video games and discovering new combinations of lego. It wasn’t long into college I found my career in architecture.
Eight years of school and a few degrees later I joined my now business partner to start an architecture firm focused on high service and high design. We began working in Nashville in 2015 where we picked up modern spec homes and HPR projects for a variety of investor clients. Through the years we have found our ideal projects and developed some great relationships with clients that share our values. Today we focus on creating high-end commercial and residential projects all over the region.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Childhood: Working on the farm taught me I didn’t want to stay on the blue-collar side of the fence. This drive to stay away from the farm is how I believe I got through the long road of becoming an architect. In my case I spent eight years in academics, 3 years interning, and took 5 exams to become licensed.
Adulthood: Creating a business has been one of the best experiences. Waking up every morning to pave my own path has been both a struggle and fulfilling. There is nothing quite like it. The path forward is often unclear and a bit scary. This fear is often overcome by a hunger to succeed.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Clements Wimsatt Architects?
Clements Wimsatt architects, aka. CW is a Nashville architecture firm focused on providing personalized and innovative commercial and residential architecture all over the Tennessee and Kentucky region. We are all about high design and high service.
From custom homes to multi-family, master planning, and mixed-use projects we are always providing unique design solutions for our clients. Having a recognizable architecture is often the goal for many firms. Not this team. While styles and trends fade, a timeless architecture meeting your context and your needs does not. Not defined by a style or placed in a category our architecture is innovative and focused on your needs, your lifestyle, and your context.
Services: Wholistic design solutions are a large part of our firm. Through blogging, consultation, and design our team walks you through the entire process from early research to drawing board and construction.
Blogging: Having information about the process early is important for your research. From zoning regulations to style, we offer information about design and construction through our blog page.
Consultation: Wanting answers to more specific questions about your project? We offer consultation and site visits. From small isolated design problems to larger-scale developments we can guide you in the right direction.
Design: From the drawing board to construction site observations, we help your project become real at every stage. Our design services are organized into three options from simple to complex, you choose our involvement in your project.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
Simple, we all have heard it.
Risk = Reward
We take risks every day creating innovative solutions to real-world problems. The safe route is not our game. We strive to solve problems and think outside the box when no one else can. I live for risk. Staying on the cutting edge is just too much fun.
