Inspiring Conversations with Kia Armstrong-McCleary of The Drinking Well

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kia Armstrong-McCleary.

Hi Kia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
We started our journey at the beginning of the pandemic. We were thinking of starting this business and when Covid-19 hit, we just weren’t sure it was the right time. But then quickly decided, when is it ever the right time? So we jumped in feet first unsure of what was to come, but we knew it was meant to be.

What started us on this journey was our love to create moments that leave a lasting impression and our love of service. Bartending is one of the few professions where people can create a relaxing environment while getting to know others even if it’s just a short moment in time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We have learned many things along this journey so far. Some of the greatest takeaways are learning to be comfortable in your offerings and figuring out price points and target markets.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Drinking Well?
The Drinking Well is a mobile bar concierge that strives to provide a creative and professional service. Not only do we bring experience, but we also create one tailored just for you. Our mission is to make sure you always drink well.

What sets us apart from others is that we are a mother-daughter team. What we are most proud of brand-wise is that we want to ensure that you leave your event feeling like you’ve gained another family member.

We offer packages to fit your every need for an event. Additionally, we have recently added a 360-degree photo booth that can be added to your bar packages or rented separately.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Definitely consider all angles before getting started and try your best to think of all the possible things that could happen. And be ready for them. Obviously, experience holds the best path to learning, but being prepared goes a long way!
